One question I have in looking at your pictures: Was the engine hot when the photo was taken?
The engine was just shut down and all the way hot at the time of the first photo. Still though, I don't know why they jam it all the way full at the factory like that. That's probably why people's reservoir caps and reserviors are leaking and cracking.

Just to follow up on everything, I did spend a minute smelling my coolant this afternoon. I'd say it smelled more to the exhaust side of the spectrum versus oil...but I can't say I know what the coolant is supposed to smell like in the first place - so I wouldn't put too much certainty towards a diagnosis based upon what I'm saying here. We'll see what the dealer mechanic says early next week.

my fluid is milky and a bit gritty/cheesy in places (the cap and thermostat)
i added water into the mix when it got low after a little spill when switching the thermostat.
was that bad?
I dont think its was bad mr. 12.75 at englishtown. . No seriously, the water will help keep the enging temps cooler but it raises the temp where the antifreeze with actually freeze. It all depends on the mixture of water and antifreeze. The more water the high freeze point and opposite. Get some coolant test stips at the local auto store and it will tell you the freezing temp of your antifreeze and also tell you if its bad or not (ph balance). The strips cost a few bucks.
Oh yeah, try to use distilled water. When using regular tap water the impurities / additives can have a corrosive effect in the radiator and other coolant parts.
Cottage Cheese update - They replaced my resevoir because of a crack. I had the spots of dried coolant like those in post 1 before I started pursuing this. They flushed the system, and I don't have many miles on it since then, so I don't know if the white stuff will reappear. I'll keep an eye on it. Mine took a couple thousand miles before the curd developed. That was when I took it in.
I've had foamy coolant for many, many months. Also, it smells like ammonia. I had service check it out and they noted it in their system. Actually, I forgot about it until this thread popped so I should probably inspect it again.
Eric, there's a side resevoir. Is that full too? The main coolant resevoir as pictured should never be that full. I'm thinking the hose to the run off resevoir may be obstructed....
If you guys are adding water to the mix, make sure it's distilled water and not tap water.

I see there is another compartment to the reservoir closer to the side of the engine bay, the coolant in there is at a lower level and at first guess there seems to be some flow between the two so I don't think the hose is pinched. The funny thing about the coolant being that full is that it's untouched from how it rolled out of the factory. Why are they jamming the coolant all the way full there??? I don't think I'm an isolated problem here either.

Could be a crack in the cyclinder head! I hope not
At this point who knows...I just keep getting back to the fact that I'm not the only one here with this problem and I think if more people checked their coolant for a similar condition there would be a million replies to this thread.
NYC SRT8 just ran 12.8's at englishtown and 171 mph a couple weeks ago, with his car doing the same thing, and philly_john apparently ran a 12.75...could you do those things with a blown headgasket or cracked head? I have not taken my car to the track but it's running perfect right now - very strong.
Could it be bad coolant from the factory? Did it sit too long without running on the dealer lot? If it is a headgasket problem, I'd suspect it to be along an exhaust passage if anything - could a car run perfect with that condition? Wouldn't I see alot of smoke out the exhaust if that was the case?
I'm still headed to the dealer next week to inquire but I have a feeling I'll get alot more answers here...
