Encounter with new M-5

I am criusing down I-10 between Katy and Brookshire, Tx, which is about 7 miles of straight, flat, good road at about 100mph on the way to work. I am on the U-connect with a client when suddenly there is a BMW grille all up my ass. I move to the right and punch it as he passes. He pulls about 3 lengths out in front and stays there to about 140mph when we encounter other trafffic. As we get clear we go again and same deal, except this time as we pass about 145mph I begin to gain on him and he let off. I pull even and we go again, and again he stays about three lengths out till we get to 140-145, and it appears that I was either gaining or he was letting off. I then went past at about 140mph thru a big left hand sweeper (rock steady) and he gave up the race. The M-5 from about 90-140mph has a definite advantage, the car appeared very strong. I was impreesed with the way the SRT performed, at half the price, and I think the guy in the M-5 was as well. BTW, I have a Magnaflow catback and cats, with Mopar CAI, his car appeared to be new and stock. The exhaust did have four outlets, but I think that is stock.

That's a nice little area to run your cars but the Katy and Brookshire police rarely give warnings. They tend to like to connect their revenue lol I wish the two of you were on an open stretch between Sealy and Brookshire without traffic..that way you could really punch it!

4 outlets is stock for the M5 and nice performance.

apparently the new 335i can give an M5 a run for it money, i was told by a BMW dealer that the 335i engine is able to pump out 320kw (430 HP) but was detuned to 225kw (300HP) so it doesn't step into the M3 and M5's territory. interesting to say the least as you can imagine someone buying and tuning the hell out of it.

used to hate the new 5 series styling but kind of ok with it now. really hate the 3 series styling though.

That's 430 hp from a 3.5 liter engine with no supercharger or turbo? That would really be something.

We hear stories about what the 6.1 could really do with proper tune, too. So far we've never seen one actually make that power have we? I'd think by now that someone would have stripped off the electronics, put in a full-custom fuel system and dynoed the 6.1 to show that real potential.

Suppose these are "leaks" to entice people to buy the cars but actually total BS?

actually the New 335I is a twin turbo 3 liter inline 6, and puts out close to 300 hp and 310 torque. It is slightly faster than the old M3. I have test Drove the 335i many times... it is such a sick car i want to trade in my car for it... or swap a lease ...

Great story with the M5! There will be all sorts of debate and gnashing of teeth, but a kill is a kill so congratulations!

could be. i read it to mean he was saying the m5 was letting off...although since it is electronically limited to 155 that could have been part of it also.

regardless, it's quite impressive to hang with an m5 at those speeds since that's it's bread-n-butter territory.
