So does this mean that if we dont shift then the car will shift itself?

Yes, which is exactly what the 5.7 does. It was this point that distinguished the 5.7 from the 6.1's autostick. Now it will go away.

I don't plan on getting this flashed either. Once you flash, you can't go back to what we have now.

Maybe I'll test drive an 07 to see how their 1-2 shift feels, just for curiosity.

Correct….and I don’t plan on getting it either. However, each time you take your vehicle in for service you may need to tell an overzealous service manager not to perform that TSB (whenever it comes out) on your vehicle. I know some places go ahead and perform TSB’s on vehicles when they come in for routine stuff.
