Tranny fluid leak...

Well I was going to take my car out friday night and so I cranked the car and let it warm up a little and then I went to back out of the garage and as I was backing out I noticed a pool of liquid in the garage that had come from under my car. So I stopped and walked into the garage to see what it was and it was a reddish, pinkish color. I didn't know if it was for sure my tranny because the anti freeze that I am using is similar in color. But this morning I went back outside and jacked the car up and sure enough it is slowly dripping from the bottom pan on the tranny.

I don't know what could have caused this, or why it is doing it but I am going to have to take the car to the dealer monday morning and I will post then as to what they have to say.

Blake

The O-ring at the top of the 5 speed transmission where the sensor goes in has been faulty on some cars (my 300C was one of them). Fluid loss is light, but you need to get the O-Ring replaced, the fluid checked and topped up or repaced as necessary.

There is the possibility that water can get in through this leaking area. If even a small amount of water enters, the transmission will behave erratically.

Would it be normal to just now see this after 15,000 miles?

I take it this TSB is still good for the 2006 models, including the SRT. I developed quite a huge leak under my 300c at well under 15,000 miles.

Sure. The O-Ring unseats and some fluid starts leaking. No way to predict when it might happen.

Checking the O-Ring might give some owners a heads-up that replacement is needed.

Hey Blake.

It is the 13 pin connector (o-ring) that needs to be replaced on your tranny. It takes about an hour for the dealer to swap out for you, if they have the part in stock.

Don't feel bad it is happening to a lot of us. My Mag SRT blew her tranny o-ring at 6000 miles.

Freebird is at just a tad more miles and no leaky tranny yet, but she is not a daily.

Next two were taken from the passenger side of the car...the leaking sensor is on the passenger side of the car.

But this does make it worth while...
