Run-in with a new Mustang GT

I get off of work around midnight and there is not alot of traffic on the road. Near my house on the edge of town there's a newer straight 4-lane road with a couple stoplights. After work I sometimes run back and forth at WOT to stretch the HEMI out as 75% of my driving is putt-putt in town.

So I ran down the road about to where I usually turn around, and headed the other way...a new Mustang. Big fog lights shining on the front, yup it's a GT I turn around and he's a little ways up the road coming up to the next stoplight - oh yeah it's turning red I zip ahead as not to miss the light, it's a guy and his girl, I figured I wouldn't have to provoke him at all to give it a run. While we're stopped I inch up on him a little - just so he knows I want some.

Light turns green and I roll out, traction control on. The tires were squirrely at 30 degrees so I had to massage it a little to avoid intervention. He's right with me until 20 mph when I know I can floor it. Then, the HEMI simply walked him - BAD. By the time the mighty C was ending second gear he was a couple car lengths back but I stayed on it a little longer because it was pulling so hard! I've been waiting a good 3 months since buying this car for that first confirmed kill. It was worth the wait

Sweet kill. I've been waiting to meet up with one of those myself. Don't know if my RT would walk him but it'll be fun to try! Now you have only one thing to say....NEXT!

I inadvertantly pulled up fast on one waiting at a red light just last night...he slammed it on the green, I had way too much wheel spin, TC was off- but once I got moving I neither caught up nor fell behind, was about pretty even I think.

Stock - arent the GT and the SRT8 about dead even?

Ken,

I thought an SRT would hand a GT it's lunch but the C was a pretty close match.

I haven't had any problems with beating stock Mustang GT's here. In fact I have a friend with a new 2005 Mustang GT that has a K&N filter, 3.73 gears, and a chip in it, and I've beat him to with my stock SRT8. He only has his chip tuned to regular gas, but I don't think it would make a difference if he had it tuned to premium.
