Need expert opinion on 06 vs 07

Hi All,

For the last few years I've always known that I wanted to get the Chrysler 300c. However, I've had to wait until my wife's lease was up (6 more months). Anyway my father in law works for a Chrysler dealership so yesterday I went by to see him (big mistake). I took the 300c for a test drive (not my first) and loved it. I then asked him if I could try the SRT (holy crap). It was amazing......The Manager asked if I wanted to take it for a few hours which I likely obliged.

I've heard of men having mid life crises and this may be mine. I just turned 39 and I've been married for 6 years (with two lil one's under 3). I never thought I would love such a fast/powerful car. I was flying all over the place like a little kid. I could remember just 6 years ago when I bought my first BMS 3 series and I thought I was hot stuff (until I got smoked at every light by some punk teenager in a Mustang)...no more to that BS!

Anyway to my question: The cars I was test driving were 06 models. My father in law get special pricing since he's a dealer employee. The SRT was invoicing for $39,000, however it had 3k of dealer cash that they would take off...so basically they would sell it to me for $36K! Do I take this deal (keep in mind I will have to roll in 6 payments on my Maxima) or do I wait 6 or 7 months and get the 07? I am just not sure what type of deal I would get at that time...might not get any dealer cash incentive, thus I'd probably pay dealer cost.

I read an article recently saying unless the saving are HUGE always opt for the 07 because the 06 has already had one year of depreciation.

Any input appreciated

PS - Can't wait to get one of these bad boys!

36K is a KILLER deal on a no mileage o6' The best price I got is $40K on one with no rear DVD and they won't budge anymore. I cant see them, employee or not, getting anywhere near that price for an 07'

goherd 90,
Sounds like you got the bug now so you have to take the deal - now! Your deal would cover the "depreciation" between the 06 and 07 model. BTW, most dealerships already have 07's in stock, not sure why you have to wait another 6-7 months. (That would be torture, too)

Chrysler has mailed out coupons for $1000 off before 12/31 so go find one of those and it'll help you make an even sweeter deal. You might have to sign up on their website or something to get it, not sure about that. Be sure to post pictures of your new ride. Congrats and go get it today.

They did not have any 07's...when I asked the MGR the price difference he said the 07's were a lil more (not sure if BS or not), however I'd lose the 3k off. I'd still get a good deal on the 07 (dealer cost). I am thinking on waiting 6 or 7 months until my lease is up and I will not have to role in 2k of payments.

this car is AWESOME

I waited almost a year from when I first was going to buy the 5.7 300 C, but heard about the coming SRT8. It was worth the wait. This car is more fun than any car I have had since owning a 67 Chevelle that was built up with huge hp (550 ish) and 4.11 gear. The SRT8 may be more fun ! It isnt quite as radical from the head snapping torque, but it really moves out quick. With a race feel to the drive, yet luxury too. Plus I get close to 18 miles per gallon, believe that old Chevelle got about 10 - 12. And one little mistake with that 67 and one could lose the race, break the tires loose or almost hit a tree, with ESP, one can make some small mistakes and the car will correct it for you. However, any race I turn off the ESP as the car runs better without it. I look forward every morning and night just to driving to and from work, and I have had my car since 9/6/05 !!! The new has not worn off AT ALL !

You do what you need to do to feel good about the car and the deal, but man, this car makes me feel 21 years old again , how long can you wait for that feeling !

Well said BigRick. I have not owned such a large, powerful sedan since my 96 Impala SS. These SRT's are so much fun. I traded in my beloved truck for a second helping of SRT madness, during the summer time Employee pricing.

Now I am in a 300 SRT and Magnum SRT. The newness has not worn off at all, I too look forward to running the simplest of errands just to go drive my big Hemi's.

Now I have this terrible buzzing sound in my head and it keeps getting louder and louder. I'm a BEEleaver.

Everyone thanks for the comments your making this more difficult then I thought.

Can anyone weight in on the depreciation factor? Should I be jumping on the 36k and change deal on the 06 (no miles). If I don't get the 06 now I am going to wait 6 months until our lease is up and then get the 07 then..just hope that there is dealer incentive then?

Back to the comments on a 1k rebate. So your saying I can get one of these coupons and use this in addition to the price I am getting now? I am just wondering if its a part of the dealer incentive that is being offered now? I guess I can always ask my father in law if I get this coupon can I use it? If thats the case then I'd be looking at getting the 06 for under 36k...to me that would be a no brainer. Does anyone know how I go about getting one of these asap as I only have a few weeks?

EricG - I am from South Florida, but see you live in Huntington. Guess my goherd gave it away huh? I want to Marshall 85 -90 on a football scholarship.....loved Huntington. I still have a lot of good friends and memories from my time in Huntington. I just miss all the bars i.e, The Varsity that got torn down when the new stadium went up. Hey at least they got the new stadium I've only been inside it once. I actually played on the same team as Mark Snyder (Marshalls new head coach) and Tony Peterson (off coordinator at Minnesota). Can't wait until 12/22 to go see the movie

That deal sounds unbelievable. I would definitely go for it!!! There is no turning back once the bug has bitten you. Just surrender and sign the papers….you’ll be glad you did. This car is so incredible in all that it brings to the table….loads of toys, loads of horsepower and loads of torque….for a kick arse price!! So get ready for the nonstop smile to be plastered on your face!! Good luck and keep us updated on your progress.
