Brakes & Repairs - Choose Your 5 Star Dealer Wisely!
I purchased my 300 SRT 13 months ago. Looking back, I had a clue as to the integrity of my 5 star dealer when last minute they tried to add a $10,000.00 "availability charge" to the $46,000.00 sticker, until I threatened to walk!
With 16,000 miles on it I had accumulated several problems. Leaking transmission, severely grooved rotors, squealing at all speeds and a horn that sounded like a harelip dog! Time to get the car fixed.
First thing I found was they had no loaner program and suggested I hire one from a car leasing company next door.
The next day the service writer calls to say the transmission leak was fixed, the horn replaced but the rotors and pads would be $1,100.00! He was sorry about the charge and had checked with the service manager whom informed him their hands were tied.
My son had just purchased a new Jeep SRT (I should never have bought him a day at the SRT Experience!) from another dealer. He got a great deal there. We contacted them with our story and they said to stand by. I do not know what transpired but the next morning I get a phone call from my service manager saying that "Chrysler had been made aware of my scenario and will fix the brakes for a $100.00 deductible!"
Picked it up this morning. They replaced the rotors, pads and calipers... they are no longer with red lettering. They are quiet but do not appear to have the braking power of the original setup.
My advice is to do due diligence with your dealer, prior to purchase. It is amazing to me how one dealer acts so badly and another so well?
Final thought for Chrysler... How come my wife's Infiniti G35 Coupe (37K new) has a 3 year - 36 month friction warranty?
Sadly some dealerships decide to “milk” their best customers by not helping them out with the TSB after the 12k period is up. My dealership called me when he saw the TSB appear on his Dealer Connect System. I had 13k miles and he didn’t bat an eye about fixing them. Then you read of others who are charged ridiculous amounts. It really is a shame as I feel very loyal to my dealership but hotlanta probably feels like he just got bent over the desk. (sorry) Very uneven service throughout the DCX system.
They should have just fixed them for you instead of wanting to get greedy! Now they’ve lost a good customer who probably can afford to buy the nicer vehicles in the future.

You’ve had trouble with your brakes on your 5.7? This is very rare as most have never reported any trouble with their brakes. Seeing as this is your first post maybe you could come back and clarify your situation. Did you have Brembo brakes installed as the 5.7 doesn’t come with them stock.
BTW...welcome to the forums.

The OEM calipers on the 300C SRT8 are silver with black "Brembo" lettering. Did they replace with Brembo calipers that do not have the black lettering, or could they have installed some other caliper. New pads do tend to take a day or two to "break in" before you get full braking.
Go here: Bedding in new pads and rotors
for instructions on how to "bed" your brakes.

unlike some other manufacturers, DCX allows "cross warranty" repairs. So you can also shop the Dodge dealers with a 300 and get a feel for whoever gives the best service.
My original selling dealer is so bad I can't even begin to describe them. Went to my old Dodge dealer and now I get treated like royalty!
