Question SRT8 too quiet

Hi.... My black 2006 SRT8 is much too quite in the cabin during normal driving. I want to liven up the ride a little, enjoying an little engine rumble in the cabin. I bought the car new from a dealer near St. Louis, who recently installed a Mopar CAI and Chrysler DUB grill. I have also tinted the windows. I've had problems with squeeking brakes and the dealer has made several attempts to rectify the problem, the last one seeming to work. However, during my last service visit the dealer noted the front tires were wearing badly on the outside. He said on my next service appointment he would install new tires on the front and check the front end alignment. As is, from the cabin the car sounds a little like an off-road truck when driving because of the roaring tires, even when the radio is on! Does anyone have any suggestions as to creating a little more engine noise in the cabin from the powerful 6.1 engine? I was thinking of Cat Backs, changing mufflers, eliminating resonators, etc., as long as it does not void my 100,000 mile warranty. Thanks, Mike

A couple quickies:

1. Does your car have the slotted rotors (did they do the TSB)?
2. Try aftermarket pads if the squeak comes back - mine have never made a peep.
3. Like yours, mine is too quiet. I am going to pull the trigger on these:

eBay Motors: Charger SRT-8 300 SRT-8 Magnum SRT-8 exhaust kit (item 320048572379 end time Jan-11-07 13:39:39 PST)

And no worries about exhaust work voiding any warranties - other than on the exhaust.

Thumbs up Exhaust choices

There are numerous exhaust systems to choose from (Magnaflow, Zoomers, Borla...) If you can attend a M&G and hear each for yourself, that would be ideal, if not, try and find individual forum members in your area so that you can hear for yourself. Each system has it's own sound. Not better or worse, just different. It really is a personal preference thing. I have the Magnaflows and love them. There is some drone at about 1500 rpm's, but I love that too.

About the tire noise: I have the same car and never had a tre noise issue, so yes, it does sound like you have a front/end or tire issue. Get it looked after ASAP. The more miles you rack up the less likely they are to consider it "their problem".

Good luck with it.

What tires do you have on your car? If they are GY F1 Supercars, the fronts do wear very quickly on the outside. They also start to roar as they wear out. My GY F1 supercars lasted about 16,000 miles.

As for more engine noise inside the cabin, I had Flowmasters installed on my car. I really like them.

You want more sound…..you’ve come to the right place. There are so many different choices to be made. Below are just a few threads where people have added more sound to their rides. The question is how much is too much? Good luck!

What is the best intake for a srt-8

Borla or Magnaflow, which is better?

Removed Magnaflows and Installed Corsa Cat-back

i am about to invest.. i think.. in a MagnaFlow system...but im still very warey of the warranty issue. I know there is nothing really to worry about, but i was wondering, has anyone been able to get it in writing from their dealership that this wont cause any issues down the track??
