Free Flash: The Official SRT8 1-2 delayed shift solution has arrived
TSB #: 21-020-06
Date: December 20, 2006
Subject: Flash: SRT8 - Delayed Or Rough 1-2 shift at Wide Open Throttle After Kickdown
Overview: This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the Transmission Control Module (TCM) with new software.
Models: ALL 2005-2006 SRT8 models of the 300C, Charger, Magnum and Grand Cherokee (North America and International Markets).
Symptom/Condition: The customer may experience a delayed 1-2 shift at wide open throttle after a kickdown. This is often referred to as a harsh or jerky shift which is the result of the engine reaching the maximum engine speed fuel cut off prior to the transmission shifting.
Note: This flash will also change the strategy for the “Autostick” feature. This version will allow the transmission to upshift when the maximum engine speed is reached. The previous version would not allow the upshift unless the driver selected the next gear. Once the flash is performed, all of the changes are permanent and cannot be reversed.
How much furthur will this flash allow the RPM,s to climb (with this new auto upshift feature) than just leaving it in automatic . What I'm trying to say .....is there still any advantage to autostick(manual shift) mode over just auto all the time . Harder shifts ? Higher RPM(closer to the limiter)? Thanks Resume Speed ...... -Mike.

The emasculation of our transmissions has arrived. I personally will not partake as I don’t experience the hesitation as others have. I would think long and hard before jumping for joy on this one. JMHO.
This actually arrived earlier than they stated in their chat. I think they said around the 22nd. Amazing.
Thanks RS for your usual and complete coverage of these important events!

Thanks for keeping on top of this, ResumeSpeed! TheTSB should make many SRT owners happy (if they're okay with the Autostick change) who have desired a fix for this long-time complaint. And for some, to come two days earlier than expected, makes a nice holiday gift!
Again, thanks for providing such a valuable, timely service for our LX members. I, for one, appreciate it!
so the auto stick became more auto and less stick?
i used to like that about our cars, not shifting unless you want it to..
That kinda sucks.. ok, they fixed the 1-2 shift issue but modify a feature most/all of us love. why fix it if it isnt broken.? but maybe to fix the hesitation they had to write program to the same area of the TCM as the auto-stick control. Now i am even more undecided than before.
The autostick change would only be good right? I mean they are protecting you from over-revving your engine so flashing wouldn't change anything from just about 99% of our driving habits. Why would you take it to 6k rpm in first or second and not want the next gear?
I hardy ever experience the 1-2 hesitation so I could not flash and be happy, I also could flash and get this over-rev protection - which in 3000 miles of driving - would have only protected me one time I can think of on a 2-3 shift.
Do I not understand the autostick change as well as I should? Help - I'm going to the dealer tomorrow to have my coolant reservoir swapped out and antifreeze flushed, and I could get this done.
Eric
