I ordered an SRT8 today from Marty Franich C/D in Watsonville CA for sticker. I looked around CA a bit and found some dealers that were intending to add heavy mark-ups.
They have 2 BLACK (loaded) cars coming in for stock, currently as 2005's (which may be changing I read above), but I wanted a SILVER and didn't mind waiting.
OK HERE'S THE REAL DEAL!
05 sold orders that didn't get scheduled were automatically replaced with identical '06 orders by the factory today. VONs stayed the same.
These '06 orders should quickly go to "D".
The SRT-8s that were scheduled (even non-sold orders) in "D" were automatically replaced as well.
This required no input from the dealership.
So, after all, no re-ordering was required. I'm not sure if this is new policy, or if I just didn't understand the existing policy, but I stand corrected.
(On a side note, these '06 vehicles are not "near" the '05s in the Dealer Order Status, and are not marked as 'sold'. The invoice must be viewed to see the customer's name, so less-than-perfect dealership may have to look for a while to find them.)

The force is strong in you, Yoda. Thanks for the update! So, what's the deal, your now where, since you are no longer working at the delaership. Pray tell, what's your "long story"?

Thx again for the info, we all appreciate it. My only question is what do you mean by "(On a side note, these '06 vehicles are not "near" the '05s in the Dealer Order Status, and are not marked as 'sold'. This was the disclaimer posted by Dodges charity auction of the 1st off Charger. They state they will begin production in early april. I hope they squeeze a few srt-8's out from March 25th till then
Subject to unanticipated delivery delays or constraints, or other factors beyond the control of Dodge, this Charger will be made available for delivery on or about May 7, 2005. Winning bidder must return the signed and completed affidavit prior to taking delivery.

I wasn't going to say anything.....but you're going to be hard-pressed to find one in the bay area for sticker. And they say they're getting TWO already....curious. We sold ours for a song (only 10K over). (shutting up).
In a nut shell, I put in my 2 weeks, but I'm still hanging around to assist in the transition. I'm actually only 26, and getting my Masters degree in I/O Psych, so I'm focusing on that for one semester before searching for an internship in an automotive field (NUMMI......anyone with connections, anyone??)
And, as long as I can log into dealerconnect, I'll still be providing whatever info I can get.
Yea, I think deals in CA are going to be hard to come by. The first guy I talked to was in San Luis Obispo. I knew it was a small dealer, kind of a sleepy town......wanted sticker plus 10 large. I think I'll wait.
