SRT8 vs carrera 997/997S

lets clear this up most of us think that our SRT8`s can`t stand against the new 997 is that true ?

My friend has an AT 997S he raced a couple of SRT8`s & the outcome was that the SRT8 will be dead even till 150Kmh then the 997S takes the edge,Only one SRT8 did beat him hard it had an exhaust,CAI & B&G flash.

The SRT8 will beat the 997 but not from a dead stop cause the porsche hooks up like a rocket, from a roll it`s differant, I did beat a 997 carrera cabriolet at high speeds we where like 150kmh I was behind him and took him by 2 cars till 200kmh.

Those 997 v6 only no turbos but too fast !

DRIVE SAFE

There are a lot of variables involved here... Namely, what kind of race are you talking about... Drag race... Roll on... Twisties... etc?

Any of the base 997 Porsche cars would have a fairly significant advantage over a 300C SRT8 in a technical race (i.e. twisties). Other than that, the cars are close enough in terms of straight line performance that (as with most street races involving moderately fast vehicles) the outcome will probably come down to driver skill level, readiness to race, and willingness to break the law.

The higher end 997 Porsche cars (i.e. Turbo, Turbo S, GT2, and GT3) are in a completely different performance stratosphere all together!

Sure it`s a straight line race you can`t compare our srt8`s to the porsches in handling they are much better.

Roll race is the race I meant you can`t race the 997 porsche from a dead stop cause it will jump on you hard it`s lighter & hooks better.

but why I compared these two much differant cars is because I see them all day long on the streets mostly girls :P I did race a girl who had Z350,beated her & she was smiling

Tried to get a 996 Carrera (not an S model) to go this morning on the highway but he would not bite. We were going about 60 mph in front of me then manually activated the wing so I thought that he would go. (I believe that the wing automatically activates at 70 to 75 mph) He did goose it; I had it in Autostick and goosed it behind him so that he would see the SRT badge in the grill but he did not continue to go after that. Kinda disappointed that he slowed so I passed him and went on my merry way. I did slow to for him to catch a glimpse of the SRT8 badge on the back of the Mag and hear a little exhaust. My VP has the new 997 Carrera S (beautifu blue color) and we may actually give 'em a shot one day when he isn't travelling and it is one of the days that I drive the Mag to work. I am hoping to sneak a Comp 268 or 273 cam and tune in it before that happens though so I can put up a better fight.....
IF ONLY SOMEONE WOULD COME OUT WITH A TUNE FOR THESE THINGS SO THAT I CAN CAM IT AND DYNOTUNE IT!!!!!

MTI Racing here in Georgia is ready to begin working on SRT8's but really don't get too involved until a tune is available. I have already talked to the shop and once it's a go with tuneability, the car will be going for cam work...
