Possible Purchase next week, few ?'s

New guy Here

I have my eye on a fully loaded Black,06 SRT8. Kicker, Nav, Roof, rear TV/DVD. I'll know next Tuesday if the deal is on. Here are a few questions.

The car is in Michigan so i hope it has the "all season" tires. How do I tell? RSA's vs F1?

The car will have less than 5K miles. Will i be able to get the upgraded rotors?

How easy is the Nav system to use? This will be my first car with Nav?

Do you like your Sirrius Sat radio? I currently have XM

Does the U- Connect work well? My Blackberry 7130e is bluetooth enabled

I currently drive 3 hours on interstate at least 2x's a week. at 80 mph what is the ride like? Quiet? Seat comfort? Gas mileage (i know - sorry to ask)

Does the TV/DVD player have aux jacks for Ipod input?

Thank you in advance for your replies. I currently own a 2003 Cobra Vert and can't take an SUV anymore as a daily driver. 15 years in an SUV and I'm done! My current Honda Pilot is a great vehicle but has the automotive "soul" of a golf cart.

I think the SRT8 is going to be a great garage buddy to the Cobra.

The F1's says F1's on it, they say supercar on the wall of the tire

The car will have less than 5K miles. Will i be able to get the upgraded rotors?
If they show a little sign of grooves your under the mileage so you should have no issue getting the slotted

How easy is the Nav system to use? This will be my first car with Nav?
Dont have NAV adds too much weight to the car

Do you like your Sirrius Sat radio? I currently have XM
XM blows Howard Stern rules. Yes I'm biased

Does the U- Connect work well? My Blackberry 7130e is bluetooth enabled
I dont have Uconnect but reading the forums some people have issues, most have good luck with it

I currently drive 3 hours on interstate at least 2x's a week. at 80 mph what is the ride like? Quiet? Seat comfort? Gas mileage (i know - sorry to ask)
It rides awesome, seat is a little narrow for my fat a$$ but it keeps you in place. If your worried about mileage you need to buy a tricycle. This car gets bad and worse mileage.

Does the TV/DVD player have aux jacks for Ipod input?
Not sure

An SRT has guts like a cobra but without the soap box derby ride of a stang.

I think the SRT8 is going to be a great garage buddy to the Cobra.

I agree. The SRT will peel out on a snake all day long

The car is in Michigan so i hope it has the "all season" tires. How do I tell? RSA's vs F1? If you have the F1 set up you will have 245’s on the front and 255’s on the rear. Of course they will say supercar on them as well. The RSA’s will be 245’s all around.

The car will have less than 5K miles. Will i be able to get the upgraded rotors?
If you look at the rotors they will more than likely have some scoring. All you need to do is ask for the TSB for the rotors. The dealership should take care of it for you. If not find another one that will. Here is a link for the TSB

I find the Nav very easy to use. It might take a little getting used to, but it certainly isn’t hard to use. You will probably use it more than you think you would….at least that is what I found to be the case. You can also inquire about the hack for using the nav in motion.

Do you like your Sirrius Sat radio? I currently have XM
Sirius radio is nice and I’ve had no trouble with it. I think you’ll like the Sirius just fine. What kind of music do you like? I'm sure Sirius has a similar channel to what you had with XM.

Does the U- Connect work well? My Blackberry 7130e is bluetooth enabled
I’m in the process of updating my cell phone, but I believe I’ve read that phone works with our u-connect. I’m still looking into my options. All reviews I've read about UConnect have been positive

I currently drive 3 hours on interstate at least 2x's a week. at 80 mph what is the ride like? Quiet? Seat comfort? Gas mileage (i know - sorry to ask)
I commute everyday 80 miles. The car’s seats are superb in their support and comfort. I happen to set my cruise at 80 mph often. With this car you don’t even know you’re hitting that speed. It’s effortless, quiet and smooth. The tires do have some road noise…but I have no trouble with all that rubber around me. You’ll find yourself tapping that gas pedal a wee bit every so often and be amazed at how fast she’ll climb in speed….with so little effort! It will blow your mind away. As for mpg …expect to get around 15 mpg if you’re going to drive 80 and get into it all the time. Probably worse. Between my SRT8 and SRT10 I’ve grown immune to gas pumps……they’re but an inconvenience to my drive.

Hope this helps answer some of your questions. If not post further. I wish you the best on obtaining this beast...you're going to love it!! Keep us updated and good luck!

It's all been answered here, just make sure she tracks straight and true without vibration/shimmys at 80mph on your test drive, otherwise tell them the tires are crap and you want new ones. Expect 15-20 mph on the highway. Then while they are doing the tires, tell them that you want new brakes - tell them that you wont buy until it gets done. Most (if not all) of that is warranty work and shouldn't cost the dealer anything. Good luck, you will love the car

Thank you all! Appreciate the responses. Just adds to the excitement!

I will post on Monday or Tuesday if the deal is consumated.

I spend a ton of time on the phone so U Connect may be my new best friend.
Has anyone done the Nav reprogramming? Can I buy the proper disk from some?

As for Gas mileage, I know that was somewhat of a dumb question. I just wanted realistic expectations.

As far as the Cobra getting lonely, I doubt it. It's 375Hp at the rears, and I have plans to get it to 440 rwhp. Although I did speak with a 300SRT8 owner who said he sold his Viper because it sat after he bought his 300 SRT8

How does the Kicker system sound?

For the nav question shoot Mr. Incredible a PM. As for the Kicker I’ve been very pleased with the Kicker. There have been some that haven’t been satisfied and have gone on to purchase after market systems. If you crack the back seat a bit you’ll get a nice kick from your Kicker. You’ll have to judge it for yourself.

Good luck next week!!.

To try to answer your question about U-Connect, you can check out my review (written two and a half years ago, in my retired '05 300C):

Dodgeboy.net - U-Connect review with LG PM-325 sprint phone.

It has pictures and audio samples of the U-Connect system, so it should give you a pretty good idea of its capabilities. My only complaint is the placement of the mic (on the rearview mirror). It pics up road noise, and has a hard time canceling it out at highway speeds.

Different phones behave differently with the U-Connect system. For instance, some will show the battery/signal meters and others wont. Some will automatically transfer a call to U-Connect if you place the call from the phone itself, others won't. YMMV. I don't know the specifics of the behavior with your phone. I'm on my 4th bluetooth phone (different models) since purchasing my first 300C. All of them have had slightly different manners with the system. The best behavior came from my old LG PM-325, believe it or not.

Thanks for the write up on U-Connect. Sounds like it will be perfect for conference calls. especially when you just have to listen in. Let's see if I pull this off Monday.
