OK..I've read a lot of different posts about SRT racing against certain cars etc. I was just wondering (ALL things considered equal i.e. to say the same driver was in each car and each car was stock) in a typical STREET race....what cars out there CAN't the SRT compete with? From what I've read it does not appear that there are a lot?
This is for your atypical SRT8 owner, not the ones that have gotten their cars to go into the 12's as most are still solidly in the 13's in the quarter mile.
Against STOCK SRT8 vehicles: (All 2007 available models)
Corvette (C6 and Z06)
Shelby GT500
Porsche 997 911 Carrera S/GT3/Twin Turbo
BMW M5/M6
Lambo Gallardo
Lambo Murceilago
Ferrari F430
Ferrari 612 Scalgetti
Merc AMG CLK63/CL63/E63/S63/R63/S600 (S600 has 500hp/612tq)
Merc SLR
Audi RS4 (a push in the quarter mile)
Saleen S281 Extreme
Cadillac XLR-V/STS-V (pushin the quarter mile)
Aston Martin DB9/V8 Vantage (Vantage top speed over 180mph)
Bentley Continental Coupe and Flying Spur
Saleen S7
Bugatti Veryon
Koneisegg anything
Noble anything
Spyker anything
What did I miss? And please no tuner cars; only cars that can be bought at a dealer. (Although some are hella expensive) Also cars that are available today. I did not add the Merc S65 models (coupe, convertible or 4 door with the 604hp/738tq turbocharged motor) since they are not actually in production yet for 2007 and will not be available until Fall 2007.
Nice info thanks. So from what I see here (not many of these are on the road today). Other then the BMW/Vette and MERC I do not see a lot of the other cars mentioned on the road. I guess that's because they all cost 6 figures...LOL.
You got it. You will see the Merc C63 AMG (450hp) and BMW M3 (415hp?) in the coming months and probably will see those pretty regularly. The Audi RS6 (500hp) may be coming by the summer/fall 2007 also. I almost added the Lotus Exige S (new supercharged model) but I think that we can run those down pretty easily after 110 mph or so. (the new supercharged models are quick in the quarter) There are four iterations of one particular car that I did not list but you can buy and will give us all the trouble that we can handle. Although some consider them tuners, these cars are under factory warranty and can be bought at select Ford dealers:
Foose Supercharged Mustang
Roush Stage III Mustang
Steeda Supercharged Mustang
Sean Hyland Supercharged Mustang
Saleen Supercharged Mustang (push - as one of our SRT8 brethren has beaten one already from a roll)
Each sports over 400 horsepower; some closer to 450. Again, although my post response says no tuners, each of these cars are backed by a Ford factory warranty.
I have encountered one Lotus Elise (Series II) on the road. I can say with certainty that my SRT8 accelerates faster and cruises at a higher velocity than did the particular Elise that tried to run with me.
I would love to run one on a closed circuit.

Competition is a relative term, there currently isn't really any other car out there that has the room/power/price point that the SRT8 currently occupies. Take your pic for the one that best suits your needs, Charger, 300 or Magnum
On the other hand, there are plenty of capable 4-doors in the $40k price range that can turn 14's@100 in the 1/4 mile.

There are only 3 on that list that I would even consider taking on the 3 country tour I am now doing (The USA; Mexico; Canada). And - only the Caddy STS-V would have a chance finding service and parts, especially in the remote areas with their punishing roads.
Cadillac XLR-V/STS-V (pushin the quarter mile)
Aston Martin DB9/V8 Vantage (Vantage top speed over 180mph)
Bentley Continental Coupe and Flying Spur
