Are SRT8’s finally getting some respect?

I remember last year reading about the SRT8’s and everyone was saying that the SRT8’s were to big and heavy to be fast. It didn’t mater what forum I was on they where all bad mouthing the SRT8.
It seems that these cars have a lot more respect now! Thanks to all of us with SRT8's showing them what it’s got! So I guess it is worth it to race anyone who wants to run, it helps spread the word.
Keep up the good work guy’s

Maybe in car forums the word is out, but in real life I run into so few people that know what an SRT8 even is. To most I’m just a base model with a wheel upgrade. In Florida 300’s are a dime a dozen and the roads are covered with them. But that’s ok. I’ll do my best to share with them my other upgrade that’s under the hood!

Not a day goes by without someone commenting on the car, that's without any external upgrades. Today, I had a Mustang GT (a couple of years old) back off after coming up hard, looks like he was reading the SRT badge and decided not to go for it, I even slowed down for him. There are a few base model 300C with little old men driving around town (no disrespect to the older forum members) but I have yet to run into another SRT. Kate (wife) calls my car the "Pimp Mobile".
Hopefully she will let me "spend the cheese" on some mods.

Exactly. One of very few street legal vehicles faster than me at the track last year was a Ford turbo diesel truck. WOW! It was impressive.

You've obviously mistaken me for someone else. I have one of the fastest (mostly) stock SRT-8's so far: 12.900 at over 110mph. (yes, the nitrous/turbo/stroker/supercharger crowd is faster).

Thanks Moose. I just found the slips:

April 8, 2006: 12.900@110.90
October 25, 2006: 12.997@107.33

(My first and last times to the strip in '06)

(And I know you can CRUSH me)

EDIT: I just looked at those slips from 4/8/06.

It was cold, dense, and we had a tailwind. I ran 10 times in 2hours and 39 minutes.
worst time: 13.059 best: 12.900
8 of 10 times were in the 12.9's
Best trap speed: 111.42
It was a great day.

Or wannabe fast and the furious racers. But that's what you get when you're in redneck hell.
