2005 Owners - did you do the Transmission TSB?

For 2005 owners who care about their car's originality, have you/are you doing the Transmission TSB? ONe of the original unique features of the SRT-8, was that it would hold the selected gear no matter what. With the TSB, the car will shift at the rev-limiter no matter what you do.

Does anyone care? Keep it original or change it (permanently).

Not me Matt. Although the poll suggests that 48 are happy with it and 4 aren't, my plan is to buy a new TCM and have that flashed instead. I figure that way I can always go back to original if I don't like it. I never did get a lot of the 1-2 hesitation in the first place. I just can't get over losing the uniqueness that differentiates our programming over the 5.7 autostick. The same poll at Charger forums is around the same with only one negative to date.

My car is sleeping till probably mid March anyway, but I'll most likely do it with a new TCM. There's not many of us here, so I don't know what kind of replies will come. Who else is currently active here other than hass??? I don't think Jeremy's setup would apply, but I may be wrong on that.

1) I think I'm giong to get the TSB done. Because I actually race my car, I'm hoping it helps my e.t.'s by allowing the car to shift closer to redline.

2) Boy's doing all right, all things considered. Thanks for asking.

I had mine done. The hesitation happened often and it was driving me nuts. So far so good. I can't think of one good reason why others think hitting the rev limiter is a good thing, but I won't miss it. I like the fact that in manual mode it shifts for me if I rev it too high.

That settles it! If SRT-8 #1 can have it done, I'm in!

I store it in a heated garage. It'll come out around mid March for an oil change. You know you just can't trust that oil after only 9 km's on it...haha. That's the last time I had it out just for an oil change and drove it home.

My daily driver is an 05 Dodge Ram 4x4 QC. With the snow up here it's perfect. It's also the one I mod. Probably going to go with a Jeep SRT8 at the end of the year when I trade it in.

Hey Matt, let us know what you think of the flash. Have you considered a new TCM just in case you don't like it.

srt42, are you the guy who bought yours used and RS found out it was the 1st?

Do let us know after you have it done

Mine is a 2006 MSRT8, but my 1-2 shift is bad. I had serious problems with a TCM reprogram on a BMW, the SAV was fine before, and we ended up having the car bought back after six attempts to reprogram. The next step was to replace the tranny, no thank you. So, I am very cautious about tranny TSBs.
Look forward to hearing your thoughts Matt.
Cheers

Here is the one good reason that I have. Video Burnout here

With the TSB you will slide into second gear and it will kill your burnout, lol. On a serious note, the way the car is now, it's set up better for road courses as well (IMO). Some tracks have a distance between corners where you need to keep the car in gear and go right up to redline to slow (nose) your car down and have it ready for coming out of the next corner. My 5.7 would not hold the gear and would slip into second totally messing up my corner and I would have to fight to get it back into 1st.

I'm waiting on the tuning that will be coming out. We'll be able to flip back and forth between settings. We'll be able to run the fans all the time. We'll be able to increase the redline to 7,000 RPM's and so on. Those are the things I'm looking forward to.

I can totally see why a lot of people would want this TSB. It does suck when you hit that limiter. I don't have the problem when leaving it in D. If I did I would have ran to the dealership to have the TSB done.

And
