According to Mr. Clarkson - CTS-V is 'wonderful' and 300C SRT8 is 'rubbish'

Hi Guys!!

Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson thinks that the Cadillac CTS-V handles wonderfully [or beautifully - or some such word] and that the 300C SRT8 handles - well - it's 'rubbish'.

You may already know this.

So I was curious.

Have any of you 300C SRT8 owners DRIVEN a CTS-V?! IS the Cadillac a much better HANDLING car?! And as far as performance sedans are concerned [from the least to most expensive] how well does the 300C SRT8 fair?!

Thanks,
Craig!!

I think there is a consensus that the CTS-V is a "better" handler. Probably more of a driver's car being lighter and a manual.

Clarkson's hatred of the SRT8 is an opinion only he seems to have. Every other automotive journalist celebrates the car...leading me to suggest he has a personal grudge against it or something. There is a higher price for the SRT8 in the UK so he compares it to a more-expensive class of car I think too. I definitely don't need Clakrson to tell me what to think of a car. I checked over and drove what I considered to be the competition for the C and SRT8. 40K is alot of money to me and this car is WORTH it!!!

Eric

There have been several posts from this “entertaining” buffoon concerning our beloved SRT8. I really don’t bother listening to it as I know most of it is rubbish and as Eric proudly stated “I definitely don't need Clakrson to tell me what to think of a car”

I owned a brand new CTS (not the V) for a total of 8 months before I got rid of it (for a new 300C). It wasn't a bad car, I just didn't look forward to driving it. I hope that makes sense.

Well the 300C will never be the best handling car. It's a luxury car with performance (at least the V8's and I count the CRD in as well). It's steering is indirect and the car is heavy for a sports car.

I have seen the video and I don't get what it is he is trying to say, other than he hates the 300 SRT-8. I paid 42 large for my car. I looked at an M-5 the other day here in Houston that was 98K. I will take my car to my favorite racing shop and have them perform 50K of upgrades to engine, suspension, transmission, diff, brakes etc... and then meet "Clarky" and his stock M-5 at any racetrack he chooses and run for whatever he chooses. But it has to be for more than the 50K I spend for the upgrades.

Agreed. That's why you need a SRT-8! Sans Mr. Clarkson, it's hard to find another reviewer that doesn't like the SRT.

Also, you simple cannot compare a new M5 to the SRT-8. It will and always will be the greatest handling sports sedan in the world. That's what BMW does and that's why you pay a premium. DCX was not going for that title when they built the car. If they did, the price tag would have been north of $60k. The SRT group does build a balls out sports car -- it's called a Viper!
