When my car was in to have the TCM TSB done two weeks ago, the Service Manager and I got to talking. Let me first mention that that's a first for me. I've never had a good relationship with any Service Department, much less having good conversation or service for that matter, from anyone. Well, that's all changed.
So, we start talking about the TCM TSB and I told him how it came about with Bandit's car being the guinea pig and the SRT engineer flying out for a day of programming. The TSB came up because when he called me to let me know the car was done he said he thinks they did a TSB. I said, "Yeah. There's a copy of it laying face down on the passenger seat." He laughed and said I was another one of those "SRT-8 guys". And he admitted that we always know what were talking about and have a tendency to keep up on TSBs more than the average Joe. I said hey, the fact that you did the TSB without it being mentioned speaks volumes. I didn't want to walk in and bonk them over the head with it like a know-it-all because frankly, based on my first visit (tranny o-ring TSB), I had a feeling I didn't need to.
Fast forward and he explains that one of his customers came in and complained about the crappy am/fm reception. They ultimately had a crew of techs come on-site and the problem was diagnosed and fixed. He said he didn't blame the customer for not wanting to deal with bad radio reception and he backed him 100% until it was fixed. Casually, I said, yep, I have the same problem. I don't really listen to am/fm other than for traffic so it's been more of an annoyance than anything else. He tells me to make sure I make an appointment and bring it back to get fixed. I thanked him and took off with my new TCM programming.
Last week I get a call from him asking how everything is with the TCM and to see if I wanted to go ahead and schedule coming in to get the radio fixed. Sure, thanks for following up. I call him back a day or two later (this was last Friday) and leave a message about my dash rattle that's gotten worse since it started to dip into the 20s and 30s. He calls and leaves me a v.m. at work saying, no problem. We'll see what we can do.
Drop the car off this morning. Rental car is ready. I head back over to the office. Get a call at lunchtime. Car is ready. I pick it up after work and all is well once again. Radio is fixed. Rattle is gone.
So, locals, and not so locals, this is Warnock Dodge/Chrysler on RT. 10 in East Hanover, NJ. Joe Alfano is the man. Scott the Viper Tech is awesome. I haven't met him yet, but plan to on a future visit.
Oh yeah...got this done too:
