Talking So how big is the rivalry really?

I am relatively new to this arena but heaven knows not to the rivalry among various brands and makes of cars. Us Chevy guys see Ford guys and throw the revs and stalk them at traffic lights, etc. just to see if they've got what it takes to hang with the big dogs. Now, I know over the years about the thing between CSRT guys and the CTS-V guys and the talk about who's faster and who thinks they are. So tell me...the Chrysler noob...how big is the rivalry really? I just want to know how to act when the day comes and I make the big purchase! Remember, I'm a GM guy at heart but I will join the CSRT camp the first minute I'm able to. I like the CTS-V but there's just something about the CSRT that has sold me. Thanks for your impressions on this.

Born and raised a GM fan and always never understood the Mopar guys. I liked the GTO and Roadrunner and a few misc. cars.....BUT i got my SRT 8 last week (06 Silver Steel) and this car is Bad fing ass. I have never been so happy and so excited about a car. I just hope the challenger and camaro dont make me fall in love as well. As far as rivalry I think the Chev-Ford reigns strong and my impression is that the Mopar are just damn proud and now I know why. I love this thing. I dont even have to drive fast because I just know. 30 years and now I get it. Good luck to you in your search!

Rivalry you ask? What rivalry are you speaking of? We hardly know they exist. Here are a few threads we may have discussed once in a while….nothing real serious.

No rivalry at all really. It'd be like the Indianapolis Colts having a rivalry with the local JV college team - what would be the point? We'd all know the outcome.

Naw - I'm not much into rivalry. Just got the SRT-8 for the neat spoiler on the trunk . . .

BTW: My offer to meet a CTS-V on the track still stands. How about California Speedway on March 25th?

The CTS-V is not as fast as the CSRT8 by a raccoon's nut hair on straight line performance. But on a road course, it's a different story. It'll take someone like Northern Rider or DanRealtor to make it a showdown.

But there's more to it. Take styling, custom looks, comfort and yes, reliability and you've got the baddest car for the buck. If anyone questions the reliability mark I've made, check the data. The SRT8's have been nearly bullet proof. The only component that has now exposed it's weakness is the half shaft's BUT only after smashing them with a combination of 600+ HP, 3,000 stall and drag radials.

CTS-V's are very nice cars too. But at the end of the day the CSRT8 has that exta WOW factor. I have been approached by many many people at stop lights, gas stations, at the track etc. about how great these cars look and how interested people are about them. I just don't think that is happening with the owner of the CTS-V... Wait, I know it's not happening!

I don't mean to change the post, but here's what really made the difference for me...:
Here's the side by side for size. I love the size of my SRT, inside it feels way bigger than the V... (I drove a V for about a week last year before buying the SRT...)
Look at the different front hip and shoulder dims...
