Y2K, how did the HIRs do? I'd like to replace the xenons in the highs. They just don't do very well. I've read some about the HIRs in the past but haven't kept up with them recently.

The best I tested (with the Philips Vison Plus now ordered) was the Night Hawk. The Silverstar Ultras had a slightly "whiter" (less yellow) light, but the GE Night Hawk beat both those and the HIR bulbs. The HIR's were runner up to the Night Hawk, but for the money (around $60 a pair) I would pass. Add in the fact you need to modify them to fit (they are actually 9011 bulbs trimmed to a 9005 base) and I would gladly take the Night Hawks over the HIR's.

The Denali uses 9005 bulbs for both high and low beams (low beam has a focused lense), so I now have the Ultra's for the low beam (more blue and "HID-like") and the Night Hawks for the high beams for outright brightness. I'll post the photos and numbers to back it up on the other thread when I get time...

This quote below is directly from danielsternlighting.com. He is a lighting expert. Since I am looking for a fog bulb to match my HIDs I think I might buy the Philips Crystal Vision or Blue Vision bulbs (not sur which ones yet). The Blue Vision are stated to be 4000k in color which I believe is what will match our factory HIDs the best. I would rather spend the money on them instead of the fake blue bulbs, but at the end of the day matching the color for the fogs is more important than total light output. I am gonna put my Philips VIsion plus 9005 bulbs in my high beam location so at least they won't go to waste.

For those who want the best possible performance from their headlamps and are more concerned with their ability to see rather than the appearance of their headlamps, the major bulb companies offer optimized bulbs without the light-stealing blue glass. Narva RangePower+50 and RangePower+30, GE Night Hawk, and Philips Vision Plus, and Osram Silver Star are the ones to get.

just purchased 2 sets.

Will these give the same light output as the high beam stock bulbs?

General Concsus is No, they don't give off as much viewable light. Soon as i get around to it i'm going to get some night hawks in the highs. The fogs will be fine as they are mostly cosmetic.
