Xenon Fogs, Before/After Pics

Alright. SRTBEE turned me on to these. They are 65 watt bulbs from xenonlightshid.com.

Before:

Comparison:

After:

These match the Factory HIDs pretty well. I'll get better pics outside with the HIDs on. I also got these same bulbs in the Bright lights!

Thanks for lookin
Justin

Very nice look Justin! Were they difficult to install? It’s a bit more than just screwing in a light bulb isn’t it? Thanks for sharing in your latest! Congratulations!

I believe in Meister’s post #3 in this link below you can find what you’re looking for. Correct me if I’m wrong Justin. Thanks!

I like the look, but what about the light it eminates. I bought 65w xenons from ebay. They looked great as far as looking at them, but the light they produced was very poor. I have silverstar ultras in my fogs but am going HID pretty soon I think to match my 8000k headlights.

Danno, they are super easy to install. The whole install of both highs and fogs took all of 10 minutes. I already had the belly plastic off so i can do my oil change and change my side markers. The fogs just twist right out. The passenger high beem is a bit of a crunch but easily accessible. The HAMMER had to be loosened swung up to access behind the driver headlight.

Yea, These look great, but like you said they light output isn't as good as the factory bulbs (none are i don't think, except hid). To be honest i couldn't tell whether my fogs are on. Even before the xenon install i could turn them on..off..on..off..i can't tell a difference. The hids do such a good job i mainly wanted the fogs on and to match, for looks, since i couldn't tell if they were on anyway. The highs are about the same. Xenons seem to be more of a soft light so you can definately tell a difference.

The fog lights in my signature pic have Xenon bulbs. As you can see, they look good ..but they have poor lighting qualitly as in light emination, at night.

Yep, as noted in this other thread the Xenon lights are a good match to the factory HID's and great for aesthetics. But for lighting forget it. I recently tested several replacement bulbs that would work with the fog lights and high beams (9005). I did not go with any 100W setups as they are reputed to burn up the stock wiring harnesses after a given amount of time. Here are the bulbs I tested for the foglights, including the 65W Xenon bulbs:

You can read about most of the results here:

http://www.300cforums.com/forums/ext...ad-w-pics.html

And I will be adding to that post shortly, as I recently went out and used a light meter to measure the actual light output of each of these bulbs. For example, here are the stock foglights vs. Xenon:

Looks like the Xenon is brighter, right? Nope! The "whiter" light of the Xenon appears slightly brighter because of the way the eye interprets colors. In reality the stock fog light - with 23 less watts of power - puts out over 15% more light:

No worries, despite the angle of the first picture the lights were the EXACT same distance from the meter (exactly 20'6") and were in an "open" lense with only a clear plastic cover (highbeam socket of a Yukon Denali):

I should have a color meter soon and will test not only the brightness of these bulbs (and the factory 300 HID's), but the color temperatures as well. Stay tuned to that other thread if you are interested!

Oh yeah, and it should be noted that after all these tests I went with the same lights as extreme-srt8. To me the foglights are largely for decoration anyway and so the light output didn't matter to me as much as the color match to the HID's. Now for the highbeam bulbs, I wouldn't dream of using the Xenon bulbs - definitely not as safe as the other ones out there!

One bulb that was not tested was the Philips 9005 Vision Plus bulb. Stock 65 watts they are the best bulbs I have ever owned and have used them in all my cars. They are very hard to find, but I found a place in Long Island and they sell them for an unbelievable price. The Philips Vision Plus blow away even the best Silverstar you can find and the price is less than half. They don't match the HID's but they are bright as hell and look a thousand times better than the stock fog bulbs. I recommend them for the high beams. I am gonna probably go with the xenon bulbs from xenonlightshid.com for my fog bulbs just for the looks. The below link will take you to Aid auto's site where you will see Philips Vision Plus bulbs at the lowest price.

Another article here about aftermarket bulbs and how good Philips Vision plus are. This article tells the story better than anything.
