Bad FM reception

Finally got around to listening to FM, currently loving the Sirrius radio and Kicker system. My FM reception is poor on some stations that in my other cars come in fine. Is this a normal problem?

Yep, i never used my sirius (just not interested) and my normal AM and FM stations BARELY come in...and that's in NYC

Went to the dealer and they ascertained...it was because of my tint

such genius, has to be ignored

So...i simply don't use it, crazy? yep...but i have zero idea about what to do?...a signal booster of some kind perhaps?

Ceramic tint is apparently the way to go. Metallic tint will interfere w/ the signal.

Do you have tint OH3Cobra? If so, do you know what kind?

G'luck regardless!!!

Call me. What stations do you have trouble with? I've never noticed a problem - and I have the metallized tint. I'm also using Sirius almost exclusively though.

I've found the raido reception to be less than great most of the time in this car. The only FM and AM station I listen to is local (few miles away) so I never have a problem. I think it's just the way the antenna is setup in these cars. Looks clean to not have an external hanging off the car, but I think you sacrifice some reception.

EDIT: almost forgot... look into getting an FM Booster... you can make one yourself for cheap. I did that in my old F150 to pick up a Ft Wayne rock station because it was better than the one in Indy.

Mine is much worse than my C was but I just listen to Sirius or MP3s so it's all good.

I 'had' bad reception. Apparently a Magnum 8 owner refused to settle for this issue and made such a stink at my dealership that they brought in 3 engineers to figure out the issue. Diagnosis found a bad ground.

The service manager was telling me the story when I was in getting the 1-2 flash and I told him my reception was horrible too. He said make sure you bring it back and we'll fix it. Sure enough, viola.

I wish I had more of a technical explanation for you, but it's definitely ground related.

If you want the contact info for my service guy shoot me a PM.
