Finally- I can tell the story...

I was reading the " My First Kill" thread, and that prompted me to post this. It's taken me a week to do it- here goes... A few weeks back my wife and I started looking at the SRT8 and a Heritage 300C. Both nice cars, but you KNOW which one I was campaigning for! I even put a deposit on the SRT8, in the hope that this would provide a little momentum in that direction. We went to the dealer, and she drove the SRT8. She wasn't crazy about the black, or the dealer installed mesh grille, but she really didn't like the ride- too rough. I finally raised the white flag, and we bought the Heritage. I'm an old school chrome guy, and 390 ft/lbs torque is never a bad thing, so o.k., I can live with this. Until Easter morning. We're in the kitchen, getting ready for some of the family to arrive, and I made some comment about how it would have been nice to have the SRT8, if she didn't mind the ride. Her answer: "Oh, I could have gotten used to the ride, I just didn't like the grille!"

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

So close but yet so far. You were a good man trying to keep the Mrs. happy. I’m sure the Heritage is a nice ride….but you know what the ultimate ride is. Will she let you trade?

Ah man..that sucks. You still have a nice car in the end though..although the SRT8 would have been nice! WOMEN

Trade? No, that ship has sailed. I couldn't even look at the car for the next few days... The upside is that she's not giving me a hard time about getting the Corvette I've been wanting anymore!

It's all good- She's happy, and after being married for 20 years, that's all that matters. I had the Heritage out tonight, and it really is pretty sweet. I just decided that I'll need a 454 in the Corvette, instead of a smallblock

If you're going to get a Corvette... why not just get the CSRT8 and add it to your stable instead? That's more or less what we did (okay... a year apart, but still). Nothing, well hardly anything better than an H.E. and an SRT8.

In love with my first wife and first car ('68 Charger) ... still have the wife, but now there's the Heritage Edition and a Magnum SRT8!
