Zex questions for the experts

I am considering doing a ZEX wet kit on my 6.1 300c. The car only has 400 miles on it, would you all suggest that I wait a little bit, if so how long? I have a Mopar CAI in my garage and a set of Electric Exhaust cutouts, I was planning on using the CAI to plumb in the spray nozzle, would the cutouts help in any way, I read that an exhaust upgrade is very helpful! I want to install my kit to be easily removable and stealthy but not messy, has anyone tapped into the fuel somewhere else besides the fuel rail in the front, I think I read that someone did this? Where do most people plumb all their lines and wires going from the trunk to the front of the car, underneath or inside the car?
I know that B&G performance now has a N2o tuned ECU program, how would or should this play into the whole N2o scenario? I’m also interested in doing a gauge cluster hidden in the sun glass holder, anyone done this?

I want to be overly cautious with my kit and safety features. I have read through every N2o post and have gathered that I need in addition to the ZEX LX kit:

1. 12v master switch (not sure if I need to order separate)
2. Electric TB stitch (I believe this comes with the LX specific ZEX kit)
3. Spray button (not sure if I need to order separate)
4. HOBBS fuel pressure sensor (do I need a similar item for the oil pressure) (not sure if I need to order separate)
5. Normal copper 1 grade cooler plugs gapped to .35 (Is NKG 3406 correct?)
6. Air/Fuel Gauge (would MSD Dash Hawk work for this and #'s 7 and 8?)
7. Fuel pressure gauge?
8. Oil pressure gauge?
9. N2o pressure gauge
10. Bottle heater
11. Purge kit
12. Emergency blow off valve
13. Electric open/close for bottle
14. Lots of 10 gauge wire
15. 91 octane fuel? (Not sure if this is high enough, only other alternative around here is to add a few gallons of race fuel, no stations carry 93 octane)

What I am considering is the Zex’s Racer’s Tuning Kit™ (82001), Traction Control Window Switch (82085) and the Zex lx specific kit (82177) have almost everything listed above but I am not 100% sure. I was also thinking that a dual stage setup might be easier on our half shafts, at first I could run two 50 shots and them maybe a 50 and 75 or 50 and 100. What do you all think of doing this, good, bad, not worth the money? Is feature 2 something that benefits the whole system or something that the standard LX system all ready does?
-Tunable from 50-250 additional engine horsepower
-Fuel Shear™ technology injects enrichment fuel directly into the nitrous plume for better atomization
-Active Fuel Control™ adjusts fuel enrichment in accordance with bottle pressure
-Features a push button switch for perfect system control

Thanks in advance.

Yes I changed my mind. I'm going for it. Should have the kit in a few weeks. Hopefully installed before the 19th. FlyBu said he will help install. Did you see his setup?...Stunning and he did it himself!!!!

I have the cutouts and I did not see any improvement over stock exhaust when I tested it at the track. It is one hell of a fun gimick though, hehe... I want to install my kit to be easily removable and stealthy but not messy, has anyone tapped into the fuel somewhere else besides the fuel rail in the front, I think I read that someone did this? Do not tap into your original line. Take off the stock clip line that goes from your main feed behind the engine to the fuel rail. Then install a new clip on line with a tee. Go to a high performance shop and get the right fittings and use SS hose with compressed fittings. Below is a photo of mine. At one time I had high pressure fuel injection black hose and the after about three months the pressure blew a hole in the line. Almost burnt down my car. So spend the extra money and do it right with aircraft type racing hose and fittings. Where do most people plumb all their lines and wires going from the trunk to the front of the car, underneath or inside the car? You can do either...I re-routed mine to follow a perfect protection channel under the car.
I know that B&G performance now has a N2o tuned ECU program, how would or should this play into the whole N2o scenario? Not sure...maybe ask AZ Power and Sound as they have done a few of these. I’m also interested in doing a gauge cluster hidden in the sun glass holder, anyone done this? I think that is tacky. Try to think of something more clean.

I want to be overly cautious with my kit and safety features. I have read through every N2o post and have gathered that I need in addition to the ZEX LX kit:

6. Air/Fuel Gauge (would MSD Dash Hawk work for this and #'s 7 and 8?)
7. Fuel pressure gauge? With 100 to 150 shot you don't need
8. Oil pressure gauge? You already have one on the evic
9. N2o pressure gauge Totally recommend. The one I use is an LED small gauge
10. Bottle heater A must
11. Purge kit A must
12. Emergency blow off valve Don't need unless you are mounting in the cab of your car
13. Electric open/close for bottle Nice to have but sometimes a pain
14. Lots of 10 gauge wire
15. 91 octane fuel? (Not sure if this is high enough, only other alternative around here is to add a few gallons of race fuel, no stations carry 93 octane) I have tried higher octane and got worse runs at the track. Even put one gallon of racing gas for three gallons of 91 and did not run any better. This is due to a calibration issue with stock tuning. Go to B&G tuning and this will be a different story

You don't need that. Just blast it with a 100 shot at 2700 RPM's.

Remember, the more glitzy stuff you put on with your kit the more stuff you are constantly f'ng with. Keep it basic and easy. I do recommend a window switch for sure. Don't go higher than 100 shot with a stock engine. Sure it will handle more, but why? If you want more HP then build up the engine NA.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Moose, so should I buy the non LX specific Zex kit and then buy a metal racing hose at summit racing or something rather than using the hose that comes with the LX specific kit? Also, you don’t think it puts undue stress on the engine and drive train especially the half shafts just shooting a 100 shot at it rather than using a progressive controller or a dual stage, not to mention traction issues? Is it just that you like simple, less to mess with, is a dual stage a PITA?
Thanks very much,
Fionn

I'm not real famy with the Zex progressive kit. At the track I don't really have any traction issues (when nos kicks on), just on the street. I guess the progressive would be fine, I just know it works without it.

As far as undue stress, I have not had any problems and I have gone through many many many bottles. I don't even have as much as a dash rattle. I also do a very fine inspection on my vehicle before and after I run at the track. Now if you go 150 shot with DR's you are playing with your half shaft life.

I'd just like to see nos as an additive to your hp, not the source of your hp. I'm going to be looking to augment my NA here soon, too.

Sounds like you know your stuff pretty well and are doing some good pre planning. I think you'll be just fine.
