This is the first time she has been to a steeler for anything other than the rotors, and I never let it out of my sight for that.

I am just looking for some support and reassurance from you guys, tell me it's going to be OK.

It's going to be OK... right???
It is going to be fine...congratulations.

How many miles?

The airbag thing would be extremely annoying. You didn't get charged for anything right? I think the coolant has a sharp smell to it anyway, tough to classify as ammonia or just something toxic - well like coolant. You going to give that Valvoline Super protectant a try?

This is occurring with 2006 as well as with 2007 model LX cars. It does not appear to be occurring with Cherokee SRT8’s, based on threads posted here. That seems to be consistent with what is said in the letter that is attached to this posting, which implies the issue affects only LX SRT8’s (and not WK’s or LE’s):

http://http://www.lxforums.com/board...22&postcount=1

There is also frustration by many LX owners who take their cars to their local dealers and the service departments say the same thing: they know nothing about this issue, and they do not want to do anything about it.

What should LX owners with this problem do at this time? Is it “safe” to operate our cars with this coolant “gunk” floating in our cooling systems like this? Are we harming our engines by waiting for a solution to the coolant issue? What do you recommend we do at this time with our defective coolant/cooling systems?

Thanks for your well documented note.... we also monitor the forums very closely as you could imagine (including the video)...

First and foremost:

DO NOT PUT BAKING SODA IN YOUR ENGINE PER THE THREAD BELOW!!!
http://www.srt8oc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8326

We understand your frustration; actually we are just as frustrated that we can't give you an 'official' answer today, but be assured that we know exactly what the issue is and are working to push the issue UP the proverbial mountain to get you guys a solution.

Your best bet is to go here:
http://www.lxforums.com/board/showth...hlight=coolant

Print out the thread / letter and go to your dealer... they will probably call their zone rep, but they will be told to flush your system per the LX service manual, put in fresh coolant and add an additive.

We've commented as much as we could before in past sessions, and can't say more than we said today and at the link here...
http://www.chargerforums.com/forums/...3&postcount=85

Again, our recommendation is the text above in red. And, you didn't hear it here, but the part number for the additive might just happen to be 68029698AA.

Give them a chance at least, until your warranty runs out That aribag thing sounds like one of those impossible gremlins to diagnose, good luck. I'll look for you in Columbus!

Eric

When I picked it up the first time the cashiers office was already closed. I was told to square up with them the next time I was in for parts (I'm in there for mopar parts regularly). The guy that got me the keys had no idea about $.

They called today and left a message saying that they had to order a part for the air bag system and that the car would be done Friday.

It was the clock spring. All fixed now.

I wonder if they even drove it the first time. The damn thing was chiming like an alarm clock every time I drove it. WTF???

As a little bonus they charged me an hour labor to check the transmission fluid.
