So I have only had my car for a total of 3 days now and I just got my SRT8 back from the dealer for the slotted rotors TSB (thanks forum!). Anyway, this evening was my first chance to really clean the car (and get rid of that brake dust) imagine my surprise when i notice that THREE of my FOUR wheels have curb rash and one of them (driver front) is pretty bad.
I wanted to cry and throw up at the same time. I called the dealer and laid into him (although I take some responsibility for not noticing it). I just noticed this because the day I bought it (Saturday) it was very rainy and well UI just missed it. You sure learn alot about your whip during that first detail session.
The sales manager said he would make some calls to see about assisting with some repair ( is this really even possible)? But it looks like I might end up with 22" a lot quicker than I thought (at least my depression got my wife on board with some new wheels Any recommendations on new wheel sources, styles, prices, performance?
superbuytires.com is a good place to start looking for rims. Since you have the SRT8 you'll probably be wanting to go with one of the lightest rims that you can find so you don't lose the performance. Good luck in your quest.
Wow that really sucks about the curb rash. I really don’t think it is repairable as we’ve had members attempt it and report that it doesn’t look all that good. So the wifey is letting you get some new wheels….congrats. Let us know what you decide to purchase.

Do you guys think I am out of line asking (nearly demanding) the dealer take some responsibility here? I am not absolving myself of not catching it but:
1. They never detailed the car because of the rain
2. They never disclosed the rash
3. The wheels had a lot of brake dust
4. I bought the car 72 hours ago
Heck I am just disappointed in myself for not catching it. I normally do a lot more homework, but was entranced my the cars beauty
Reminds me of when I bought my '95 Formula Firebird. The next day I realized that it had a ding in the fender that was there when I bought it. I never went from so high to so low so quickly before in my life. The dealer paid for a dent doctor to fix it. I would ask them to swap the wheels out with 4 from another SRT-8 and let them worry about what to do with the old ones. Make the case that they were either in that condition when they were bought or put into that condition by the guy that did your brakes. Either way, it's their responsibility. Good luck.
Isn't there a period of time that you have on a new car that you can return it? Something like 7 days....I would get them to replace all the rims with new ones...

I think you might be onto something, I'm sure there's some sort of cooling off period after you buy a car. I think here in Ontario it's something like 500KM or 10 days. Check if the same applies where you live. And if you fall within it, go back and tell them you want to return it. Watch how fast they replace your rims!
