TSBs in Canada

I'm an SRT8 owner in Northern Alberta who has PATIENTLY waited out a very long winter while the SRT has been parked for the better part of the last 5 months. We bought the steel colored 300C in early August '06, and today it still has less than 5K KMs (>3K miles) on it. Our build date is April '06. We LOVE the car. This is my first post, although I've been an active reader throughout the winter ( to keep my sanity!) and I've been paying particular attention to the TSBs. I cherish some of the well-detailed posts of others, so wanted to contribute a post to share our own experience in hope that it helps others. More specifically, a few of us have posted about TSBs in Canada, and I thought I would share our recent dealership experience in Edmonton, then ask a question at the end:

Two weeks ago, we had to have the car towed to the dealership because the front fascia blew apart on a VERY windy day on the highway, which caused considerable front-end vibration. We had scraped the front fascia more than I would have liked in the first couple of months, mainly because we have a sloped driveway (we've been careful about front-in curb damage though). As many of us have learned the hard way, the one-piece front fascia replacement is a $1600 job. We were LUCKY though - the towing company that D/C Auto Roadside contracts with didn't use a flatbed - they towed it nose-down and ruined the front fascia even more, then agreed to foot the whole repair bill. I was convinced that the front fascia was not properly attached on the passenger side when we took delivery (it was noticeably lower in one spot) - and now with a new fascia installed, it doesn't even come within 2 inches when we enter our driveway (which confirms my belief).

We also had the pad squeal at low speeds and the scored rotors, and so vented rotors and new pads were installed as per the December '06 TSB. From the day we took delivery in August, the ashtray wouldn't stay closed, and so the LX TSB applied to that as well. We have experienced the high-pitched whine on every cold start that other owners have noticed, but the dreaded Dealer response "can't duplicate" kept us from figuring out what the cause is, until the weather turns colder again I guess. ("cannot duplicate customer concern at this time" is my biggest pet peeve with Chrysler service)

We also complained about 1-2 shift hesitation (significant) and fully expected to get the tranny flash, but again, the Dealer kept insisting that it's the ESB that's causing the power loss, and despite my insistence that they're talking about something completely different, the service advisor explained that when he ran my VIN, no other TSBs came up on the car. I even gave him the TSB # from this forum, and handed him a printed copy of it, so although he certainly tried hard - he simply couldn't find any TSB for a tranny flash that applied to our April'06 built car.

Have any other Canadian owners had a similiar experience with respect to the tranny flash TSB?

I had slotted rotors and TSB done no questions asked. My car must be an early build 06 as I have the two piece spoiler as well.

Cheers,
Chris

Welcome to the forums midlife. I had to comment on your fascia incident. I felt my front fascia wasn’t attached properly either from the factory. This was confirmed when it fell off on my garage floor while parked. I had never scraped it on anything before. The dealer discovered it was missing several of the clips that held it in place. Sorry you had to go through the towing destruction, but I guess they paid for the damage.

Just wanted to share that and welcome you…..I’m sure our wonderful Canadian members will chime in soon for your question. Don’t hesitate to ask any other questions. We like to help!

Hi Midlife!

I live in Saskatchewan. I don't own a 300c SRT-8 yet, but do have a deposit on a 2005 model which is 1 of 35 production CDN in that year.
Anyways,,I had printed off the shift TSB and gave it to my dealership last week so he could look into it. I told him about the brake TSB as well, but don't have a print out for that. I have to find it online first.
I won't finalize the purchase until they perform these updates .

I have a question for you regarding winter driving.
It sounds like you did not drive it in the winter. Did you try , or are you using your SRT-8 as a summer vehicle only.
Just curious , since I am planning on using the SRT-8 as my Daily driver with an upgrade of winter tires for those 5 brutal months of snow and ice.

I will be visiting the dealership today and let you know about the tranny TSB as to what they say about it.

Well, I was told today that the shift TSB had already been completed by the previous owner.
As for the brake, rotor TSB, it's obvious that it hasn't been done because of the smooth rotor's.
Where would I find that bulletin online??
Thanks,
