Perhaps the best drag race showing of SRT-8's ever!!

We managed to pull off one of the best mass showings of SRT-8's ever to hit the drag strip!

In attendance were actually 10 300C SRT-8's and 1 Charger SRT-8.

vvv90, OH3Cobra, paulmiller, Markmysite, XCITsNU, and JMatt (me) were all there from 300CForums. In addition, one of PPP's clients (Walter) brought his 426 PPP powered Charger SRT-8. (he's a member of some of the other forums, but I don't recall if he posts here). We also met a guy (Brad) who just bought his SRT-8 last week, and already had 22's on it with the deepest dish I've ever seen! They looked sweeeeet!!! There was also a father/son combo we met. Dad had a 300C SRT-8, son had an ACR Neon. The 10th guy was a local dealer, who brought a 300C SRT-8 with dealer plates on it (ever wonder what really goes on with dealer demo cars before you buy them?)

There was an 11th car as well, but I didn't meet him.

For the most part the six of us from this forum plus Walter and Brad all got to run together.

We literally had 8 SRT-8's running in a row - 4 consecutive pairings. It was an IMPRESSIVE site to see them all lined up for the strip. We were all among the fastest cars there. The tower announcer started calling us the "SRT-8 Nationals" when we'd run through the line. Some people took some pictures, and I have some video I'll try to post later.

Personally, my best time was 13.10 seconds at 107.5 mph. I had the best time of the night until XCITsNU (PPP) showed up with his 426 stroker motor. I ran early in our group, and as I was driving down the return road, I video'd XCITsNU go by. When he posted the first 12 second run of any of us, I could literally hear the crowd cheer!!!!

This was a charity event in honor of a high school football player who had a heart atteck on the field and died. There were tons of fans watching!!

I'll let some of the other guys add to this thread.

It was AWESOME to meet vvv90 in person after all this time!! I also had a great time meeting Markmysite and Paulmiller for the first time. Had a great time with OH3Cobra, XCITsNU, and Walter as well. I've had the fortune of meeting all of them before last night. XCITsNU and I have been friends because of this forum for two years now, and have met, spoken, and raced many times.

I'd say we also had a great time meeting some of the guys who hadn't come from this forum. Perhaps they'll show up here?

What a great time that must have been. When VVV announced in his B-day thread he was headed down to Indy my pangs of homesickness kicked in. I really wish I could have been there to witness all that good stuff. What a wonderful example of forum camaraderie to be involved in something like this. This is what makes this forum special are the friendships that have evolved out of them. Thanks JMatt for sharing your great experience with the rest of the forum and non forum members.

Great time had by all. My wife and kids came out and enjoyed the festivities.

My best was a 13.237 at 103. Feel pretty good about it and my 0-60 was a 2.088. Cut one good light. left early by-.02 on another , and feel asleep racing Jmatt. that was my best time and off his by .2

That might have gotten me 2nd best time for the mostly stock crowd, not sure.

Matt, no mention of the the afterparty?

I think (emphasis on "think") this is the video:
YouTube - SRT-8's Go Drag Racing
It's kind of long, and I'm not sure who is who.

I'm the first car in the left lane. I think I raced OH3 Cobra in this race.
I think vvv90 is next in the left lane, with maybe Markmysite next to him?
The third car in the left lane is Brad - the guy who just bought his car - still had paper plates, but already put 22's on the car. Paulmiller must be in the right lane in the third run.

The last two are Jeremy (XCITsNU; PPP) in his show car and Walter in his similarly prepped Charger SRT-8.

Afterparty? What afterparty?

I'll say this much: We may be the first people to successfully fix a crippling car failure at 1:00 in the morning using parts sourced from the Wal-mart bathroom plumbing section. (and no - I'm not even remotely creative enough to make this up. Markmysite has pictures....)

P.S. I know nothing about video editing. Sorry the video's a bit long. We handed the camera to a nice lady I've never met before, and she recorded it all for us. (Thanks Stephanie!!!)

Nice vid, looks like a ton of fun. Jeremy from PPP is a class act, I'd recommend his products to anyone.

What a great vid! Way to represent guys…all those beauties lined up was just an amazing site. You made me very proud to be an owner!! Of course Jeremy’s monster was just incredible. I’m sure the crowd had their jaws to the ground on that one.
Thanks for sharing your great time with us all!!

BTW…I like how the announcer is talking about the cars and how you can buy a mid 13 car straight from the showroom floor. Very impressive!
