Make sure they are plastic! I had a valve stem problem two months ago. In November I had two new tires put on the SRT8 on the back, had them rotated to the front, in Feb. the mechanic wanted to check the air pressure and in the process of getting the valve cap off broke he broke off the valve stem unit which is attached to the pressure sensor. The valve stem and pressure sensor are made of alumimim (?: whatever!) and the cap was steel, some one had put a steel cap on instead of the stock plastic one, the cap and valve stem welded together! only took 3 1/2 months. just make sure the cap is made out of plastic.
I gave away a set of them....They are stainless steel so they can't rust, so no issues there.
The problem isn't rust, it's galvanic action generated corrosion, caused by the contact of two dissimilar metals (i.e. aluminum & steel, or even stainless steel). Maybe a TINY bit of never - seize compound on the male threads would help. The valve stems are a little more fragile than what we're used to.

I have the stealth auto 300C caps, I've seen the SRT ones in person as well. I always take mine off and shine them when I clean my rims, good info on them siezing up though.
Ive had the 300C caps that came with my plate frames om the stock 18s for 6+ months with no problems, also have em on the 20s. I dont have tire pressure monitors, so I check pressure on a normal basis

Thanks for clearing up this point for me. I did not know what happened exactly, just that it cost me one sensor unit, but under warranty.
