SRT8 vs. SRT8 - Scary

Got my second kill in my 300 this time against a Charger SRT8 but the story is a little different.

For those of you in the Kansas City / OP area I was coming West up highway 50 from Lee's Summit into KC and 435 when a Silver Charger SRT8 came up behind me. He proceeded to get behind me, make a hard lane change and blow past me at about 90. Not one to ever back down even against another SRT8 brother I hit the stick and got on his ass for the next 3-4 miles weaving in and out of fairly heavy traffic (this is stupid I know I am not 20, but damn me).

As we crest a nice little hilly apex that would make Laguna Seca proud we are both easily over 100 when the traffic parts at the newly opened stretch of west bound 435, at this point we are both near 120 when I decide to give it hell and open her up. I pass the Charger at 140+ rounding a lazy curve with my stomach in my throat. Now I know the Charger had more but he may have lost his nerve (or is a lot smarter than me). Nearing 150+ (I was not really looking) I have to make a hard lane change into the right lane (remember I am already cornering right) to avoid a Mini Van that looked like it was standing still. I swear if I were in any other "fast sedan" I would have a) lost control b) rolled it or c) both.

My 6.1 gave me a new sense of confidence the way it handled that situation (dumb as it was). I recently traded in my Z06 and while the C does not handle that well, given its design intentions and luxury refinements I am damn impressed (and still alive with a pristine 300).

If my fellow SRT8 brother reads the boards, well done! You were class to pull to me after that and wave. Hope you saw my thumbs up through the dark tint

very nice, made better by the fact that he owned up and gave you the way once it was over. nothing worse than a fly by without so much as a glance.

not good

while I love a good race as much as anybody, it is scary to imagine such poor judgement!

I finally have my software! Happy Diablo owner.

My Favorite "old car"... 73 Super Duty 455 Trans Am - 13.08 @109 mph when brand new! Just try and find one now! And I can almost trap 113 now!

Congratulations on your run…..even though it wasn’t an ideal set up for going those high speeds. We’ve all done things that we later regretted doing….so I’m glad you realized the danger involved. Kudos to the Charger driver for the wave.

Absolutely correct on the judgement (lack thereof). Certainly not a shining example of my accumen for sure. I let my adrenaline get the best of me.

In any event, it happened and I wanted to share it, good or bad.

Safe in a SRT8

I have to agree with the creator of this post. The SRT is amazingly stable at 150+ speeds and can change lanes fairly easily. It may not have been the safest thing to do, but what is life without taking a risk here and there in order to have a good time? I try to play with my own life and noone elses. A little traffic is no biggie.
