Buying Advice Needed

It has been a long time since I've been on the board. I couldn't remember my old login info so I had to create a new account. But it's great to be back and see the board is still going strong.

To make a long story short I was going down to pick up a buddy at the airport and his flight got delayed....so I stopped in at a Chrysler dealership.

Turned out a buddy of mine from High school was one of the top dogs. They have 3 2006 black 300c srt-8's in stock. Reason for having 06's was because they just bought out another dealers stock that couldn't move them. I ended up test driving one and then sat down to figure out the numbers.

2006 Black 300C SRT-8
151 miles

Groups 1, 2 & the sunroof

MSRP was just over $46k
He was going to sell it to me for invoice plus $4k off in rebates.
With tax and title I was looking at $37k
$1500 down and payment would have been $699
Plus 3 oil changes and a full tank of gas (was pretty much empty during the testdrive)

What do you all think? I ended up not buying because I'm not totally set on spending this kind of money just yet. Hopefully a couple of months and I can pull the trigger.

Welcome back to the forums! The price you mention is very close to what others are paying for 06 SRT8’s. Since the 08’s are coming in the not too distant future they really need to rid the 06 inventory. So it would seem your buddy is doing ok for you. Good luck and keep us updated on what you do!

Thanks man...he did let me take it home for the night

Any real differences between the 06 and 07's? I know the 08's are going to have coefficient heaters.

That sounds like a pretty good deal to me, they really want to unload the 06's. I'm not really aware of any major differences between the 06 and 07 models but then again I have an 06 also so I haven't looked that hard.
Good luck!

Welcome bacak to the forum!

Starting at "invoice" vs. employee pricing level still means their making their money on ya... good ol' high school buddy... with the rebates you're just barely "below" employee pricing without any incentives. I'd try to drive a harder bargain for the "old" cars. I certainly wouldn't be happy with a $700/mo car payment. Sheesh. That's more like a house payment!

But... only you can make the decision. If you can afford it for the price and deal offerred... you're going to have lots of "permagrin" miles no doubt.

The biggest difference is the 0-60 timer that the 07’s have in them. I don’t know if it’s worth it to you to spend more for this goodie or not.

You spent the night with a SRT8…..well all I can say is get out the check book now! You'll never be able to go back!

Driving back in my 96 Camry was not much fun. I can say that for sure! But its a great car none the less.

37k with tax and title included is a pretty good deal, you must be paying about 35k for the car then. Tell him if he throws a Chrysler Maxcare extended warranty into the deal it's done! At least try that anyway

Thanks guys. I thought it was a pretty good deal myself. But a $700 payment is a pretty good amount. And like GoofyTim said they aren't losing anything. They are still covering what they paid for it...unless when they bought out the other dealer that bought it below invoice.
