Had some fun with a Porsche Boxter S

Hi Guys!!

It was a 'race on the run' and not from a stop - but it was fun none the less. I was in my 300C SRT8 and the other guy was in his Porsche Boxter S. It was the first time I took advantage of the Autostick [in that type of situation] and was pleasantly surprised by what a difference it made. The gears seemed to shift MUCH quicker using AutoStick - which I'm going to assume is how it's supposed to work. I felt more in control of my car. It was a good feeling. It all started when the Porsche guy was behind me at a light. I took off very quickly [when the light turned green!! ] leaving him in my dust. That was all it took to get him to at least TRY to catch me. The 'race' went on for several miles. I would have to slow down for traffic - every now and then - but that just gave me yet another opportunity to show the guy in the Porsche just how powerful my car really is. I would slow down and downshift. And when the road ahead was clear again - I gunned it. I love how the transmission now shifts at redline without any help from me. [Thanks to that TSB thing] All I had to focus on was downshifting. The Boxter S was fast but no match for my SRT8. For just a very brief moment - I reached 130 MPH. It all ended when we came to another light. He was turning right but made a point of driving up next to me to give me a big smile and a thumbs up.

I really love my car!!

Craig!!

Actually - unless it was brand new, the Boxter S wouldn't cost as much as a new SRT-8. And a kill against a Boxster S isn't really very impressive.

This isn't a dig at the SRT-8 kill. It's a dig at the Boxster S.

Boxster S model spendy

Actually the 2005 S model was listed as MSRP of $61K large with all options, as most of us have our SRT's and that is more that i'd like to spend for a mid engine car that is just a average roadster, yet fun after your moving.

But, I'm sure there are the same types in every car group world wide it just happens more with expensive names. It's just good to see that another enthusiast enjoyed taking a bit of a romp, and didn't get pissy when he couldn't keep up.

Heck I'd take a 15 year old slow ass porsche just cause I like the looks, and I'd be happy to get beat in a race. Some people would flip you off if they got beat driving the same thing. And I'd really like to have a 1996 Porsche 911 in black....must have origonal paint though......then I could be one of those people that get beat by SRT's in a porsche and feel good about it.
LOL - bite me!!!!!

Actually - I'm trying to find someone to take my SRT-8 to the track tomorrow and drive it AGAINST me driving my 1996 911 C4S. I'm guessing my Porsche gets spanked by nearly 2 seconds.

And no - I don't mind at all. Heck, last week my SRT-8 got beat up by a piece of crap Honda Civic driven by a kid. He had a bunch of friends with him, the car was stripped, had some nice mods under the hood - and rolled a 12.98 on an 83 degree day. They were stoked! I was happy for them! I think real car people appreciate all manner of cars and their enthusiasts. I know I do.

Shoot - I'd even give props to someone with cheesy electric cutouts that do nothing but make noise.........

(Just kidding with that last part UCM - I love you man!!!. No - not like THAT!)
