How to remove overspray on RIMS

I have some minor overspray on my two front rims from when the dealer had to repaint my hood. It's not noticeable by sight, but when I rub my hand over the area I can definitely tell its overspray.

Some have suggested try using a clay bar to remove but that did not work. Any other thoughts?

try bring it to a paint shop or a detailer and have them try to buff it out. I've tried it on scratches and it works great but idk about paint it doesnt hurt to try.

Paint Thinner

I had the same situation on one of my chrome rims. I used a little bit of paint thinner to remove the overspray. I immediately washed the wheel with soapy water after removing the overspray.

Just a suggestion.

I'll try the paint thinner...I don't want to hassle with having to bring in to detailer if this is something I can do....I was just worried that the thinner would damage my rim?

Are your wheels chrome or painted? If painted, scratch the paint thinner.

Our stock wheels are clear coated. I am not sure if the thinner will harm the clear or not. Better be sure before you try. I am sure someone here will know.

Several years ago I had some body work done and they ended up getting overspray inside the doors. I have no idea what they used, but it was some kind of liquid specifically meant to remove it without damaging the clear coat. The guy just put it on a cloth and rubbed it off quite easily. I'm sure if you took your car to a body shop they'd know what to use.

Paint thinner is cool, just remember to wash and rinse them after doing it.
