JMatt and others with SRT8: How is the suspension?

JMatt, could you compare the SRT8's suspension to your E39? I love the E39 sports package setup (for that matter, I have not met a sports pac. in a BMW that I didn't enjoy.)
Anyone else care to chime in? If so, what are you comparing the SRT8's goodies against?
TIA

I thought about that as I drove in to work this morning. Over rough roads it feels very similar, yet it sounds more solid. I would guess that in straight-line feel, the two are very similar, but the SRT-8, being bigger, just feels a little more isolated. I haven't thrown it into any corners yet (road surfaces are too cold to trust here - 33F on my way to work).

There is so much power on tap that i'm a little hesitant to throw it into a corner for fear of sliding the car out. I need some incremental practice before I get too agressive.

I can tell you this - the 540I 6-speed goes 0-60 almost as quick as an SRT-8, yet absolutely feels like i', driving a tin can now compared to the SRT-8

D - means we've scheduled to build the car. The phone center will tell you "it's in production" - but it's not.

D1 - means they're are now ready to actually start building the car

D2 (& D3 through D7) appear to be steps down the production line. I'm guessing your car has a ship date of 3/23.

Mine was built on 3/4, arrived in Indiana on 3/14 late in the evening. Dealer prepped it on 3/15. I picked it up on 3/16 at 8:30 in the morning.

I'd guess you'll see the car by 3/31 give or take.

Well Haas..congrats. I had a ship date of 3/18, and it was built on the 17th, but now is in "I" status, which means built, not ok'd I do not know what that means or what the "6" means..

Needless to say, I am not happy. Anyone have any idea??

They've been individually giving each of these a full inspection, instead of the usual process of random inspections. I don't know if they still are, but that could explain the delay.

I agree with you on that. You feel a little jerk when the ESP kicks in, giving you a sense of total control and confidence. It sure wouldn't be very hard to test the laws of physics. This car goes so fast, so fast. I'm trying to say it goes fast very quickly I guess. I like the feel of the steering and the feel of the road. A slight twitch of the steering wheel and the car responds. I can't say enough about the handling.
