Have the Manual? What's the Rec. Engine Oil Weight?

After my 1200 plus mile drive back to Omaha in my brand new SRT8, I plan on swapping out my Mobil 1, for something a little better. (argumentitive I know ... not trying to start a pissing match)

I just want to make sure I order enough of the right weight and have it here already to go, along with a new oil filter.

Anyone have the Chrysler part number for the oil filter? And what weight synthetic do they suggest using? 10w30 ? 5w30? GL-5 rated?

I'm an amsoil distributor, and an avid user of it; that's what my ride will have pumping through it's veins ......

Amsoil was my 1st thought when you mentioned wanting to change from Mobil 1 to something better. I have seen the comparisons of the 2.

Yes, I thought the comparisons were quite stunning as well ..... none of my cars have ever used anything but Amsoil ever since.

Have it in my 4x4 Jeep, my AWD Subaru WRX/STI, and it will definitely be in my SRT8

I just want to place my order for more oil tomorrow, need to get the right stuff!

Off topic a bit. When are you flying in to pick it up? Unfortunately it's supposed to rain from tonight through the weekend. But once you get out of the Mid Atlantic area you should have some nice cruising weather.

Tell the boys at the dealership I said hello!! And best of luck on your return trip....

Oh well, it started snowing here this morning .... (very wet though, doubt anything will stick)

I'm flying in at 12:35 pm on Friday ...... I'm hoping to be back on the road by 3 or 4pm, hopefully, I won't have any paperwork to do ..... (my bank should have taken care of most of it I believe)

I wish the Amsoil 5w20 was 100% synthetic and not reformulated regular oil.

I don't know what he's talking about either .. but, I've never learned that product or sold it so .. who knows .... I would be surprised however that Amsoil would sell anything but a full synthetic ......

Anyways, on a side note ...... Amsoil does not carry the required 0w40 so ... I guess I'm buying Mobil 1 for a while ....

You guys who own an SRT8, might want to make sure you can get that weight .. I went to half a dozen car parts stores ... no one carries it ... had to special order ......
