Canadian cars cannot be sold with Sirius option.

Does anyone know how hard it would be to retrofit and install Sirius. Is the radio ready and just not hooked up? Is it a different wiring harness?

I know I could add an aftermarket, but would rather retrofit with OEM even if I have to order parts in the US.

I just hooked mine up...radio is equipped, and all you have to do is call. It is awesome...165 clear channels of commercial free whatever, music, news ,sports....but of course I am in the usa.

How many stations would be available up there? That would be my only concern if I lived there. You might want to try to find out. Maybe check with some others who have traveled through your area. Or better yet, across Hwy 1.

There are no stations up here. Our bloody government does not allow satellite radio at this time, so it must be bought out of the US which means you must have a US address for billing purposes. I really don't know how they would police it but those are the rules. I hear that satellite will be available here in the near future but will not include services out of the US. If you ever had to endure a couple of hours watching the CBC, then you will know how we feel, then again I really don't want to listen to the likes of Howard Stern.

yup the radio is satellite ready . All you need is a wire harness , antenna and satellite receiver module . Your car will have the plug already on the left side of the dash to plug the wire harness into . This plug is located just above the parkbrake mechanism under the lower dash trim cover . Its a small white plug (only one with nothing plugged into it). Then you run your harness to the left rear of the trunk and mount the Sirius satellite receiver module to the body and run your antenna to this module . I would not drill the roof to mount the antenna but install it in the rear parcel shelf or some other location that it can receive the signal . Then all you have to do is call them to activate it using a U.S address .If you live in the lower Ontario area you will receive the signal just fine

Two years ago, I drove from Mi. across the southern part of Canada to Maine and my XM satellite worked fine the whole way.

I guess I will have to order these parts from a US dealer, correct?

North 49Guy - i'm going to add this to my magnum srt8 when it arrives. I'm also in the toronto area (but have a US mailing address) so i have to go the 'gray market' route too.

Thanks GRUNT for the news of the easy hook up. as i am getting the magnum i guess i'll have the drill the roof. hopefully there are grommets in the installation kit.

MrHappy, I have heard of others placing the antenna on the rear package tray with good results, but here is another alternative that I found, and posted back in Nov., regarding a new antenna that requires NO drilling. I have not seen any posts yet from anyone that has tried it.
