jack for srt8

Hi,

I have been trying to find a low profile jack for jblues srt8.

The one referenced in the topic about spare tire/jack is not available at walmarts near newport beach.

SRT8 Spare Tire Solution

Any other suggestions? I called Kragens and autozone and no luck.

How many inches do I have for clearance (the car is not with me otherwise I would measure).

Thanks!

Jeff

I made some ramps using 2x8s. I took an 8' plank and cut it down to a 4' section and then cut another piece to about 2.5' and stacked it and then another piece to a 1'. Cut the ends of each one at an angle. I drive up on these ramps and my regular floor jack works fine.

Jeez, I did exactly the same thing except used 2x12's. Works great just like you said.

Are you looking for a garage jack or a jack to put in the boot?

The AutoZone by my house has two different jacks depending on what you are looking for. One is a low profile floor jack that is 3" at the lowest point and goes up to about 5" maybe a little lower. It retails for about $120 though. Looked for it on the website but couldn't find it.

The second one is a 1.5 ton scissor jack that is 4" tall when fully lowered. I bought one of these for my full size spare when I go out of town. It is $25 and doesn't take up much space either.

I'm also going to make a little ramp out of wood like topfuel and Rambit have to make it a little easier to get under there once the tire loses air.

Cibalo,

Do you think the scizzor jack will fit under the car to hit the fram rail in front?

Thanks!

Jeff,

That jack will clear any point under the car with about 1.5" to spare. I had no problems getting it to the front frame rail by going between the bumper and front wheel.

Don't use the frame rails to jack the car up. The dealer did that to mine when they replaced the rims and tweaked them. I tried using the frame rails too and they started tweaking even more. There is a jack point for the front right beside the a-arms. Its a flat pad that is part of the engine support and is right beside the cats. There's a great picture of it in the tech section on how to change the brake pads on the srt8.
