Traction Slip

Hello everyone. I am having issues with my 2006 300 SRT as it relates to positive traction. When I turn off the ESP, the rear tires will spin for a bit and then one will let go resulting in single tire pull. It has happen on the right and left side. I just discovered today that you can hold down the ESP button and it apparently disactivates the traction control. This didn't seem to matter. Has anyone else had this problem? In addition, what is the difference between turning off the ESP and totally deactivating by holding the button down several seconds? Thanks

When you press ESP it will turn it off, but it will kick in if your making turns and the wheels start spinning. If you hold it down for 5 sec it will deactivate it but torque management will still be active. Forum members have mentioned that to keep from getting a 1 wheel burnout you have to keep it in first gear. I have the Diablo Predator installed and i haven't seen a 1 wheel burnout at all, and before i had it the only thing that i saw when laying down rubber was it would just stop when the car shifted to 2nd gear.

I have noticed that it seemed to only do it when it shifts to 2nd. Thanks for the feedback.

If I understand the ESP option it was designed to improve driving performance in winter driving. It was to give a rear wheel drive automobite the same performance as a front wheel drive automobile in ice and snow driving conditions. This was a big deal for fleet sales when Chrysler stopped making a front wheel drive vehicle used in comercial fleet sales. This was accompolished by having a seperate system that looks at wheel speed, steering angle and vehicle yaw rate. The system uses a open rear axle and in conjuction with the brakeing system to control wheel spin. I think that is why it is recomended to turn the system off when trying to do burn outs. The ESP system will attempt to apply the brake on the wheel that is spinning so both wheels will have the same traction. The ESP also reduces the performance of the engine to eliminate wheel spin.
