Running on water?

Anyone seen those videos or scam-looking sites selling kits (under $100 for all the supplies) to make your car run on sea water? It says it makes more power, more reliable, better mpg of course, etc.. They're even doing this with Semi trucks!

I would never hook this skeptical stuff up to my srt-8 but does anyone know where to find these ~$100 plans online for free? Or some proof of a v8 running water? Just imagine if this is legit and we could all have hidden 500hp engines under our hood running on free fuel LOL

water injection

This site seems to explain it well. Maybe useful under extreme conditions but not some miraculous $100 mileage / performance booster.

ya this is a performance thing. alot of big turbo cars run water/meth injection. it keeps your cyclinder temps down, so you can run more boost. which is more power.

Hey, I've been running my car on water for years now!

4$ a gallon gas never bothers me.

Hydro is where it's at.

Plus, I can water my lawn with my car!

I know of water injection but I'm talking about cars literally running on water alone. We all know there are cars running on Hydrogen and water is simply 2 parts Hydrogen 1 part Oxygen.

If I remember correctly from a video I watched a guy had drove something like 100 miles and only used 4oz of water and not a drop of Gasoline, and also 0 pollution. In fact driving a car running like this will actually IMPROVE the atmosphere by releasing Oxygen from the tailpipe after the water is 'burned'.

There's some interesting info here:

These people are either scammers or totally deluded. They obviously do not understand physics or chemistry or rely on their victims not having any science background. Basically, water is "burnt" hydrogen and oxygen. The chemical energy of the hydrogen and oxygen has already been extracted and it takes lots of energy from some external source to separate the two elements back into the state where they can be combined or burnt again. A common method uses electrolysis (electrical energy) to get hydrogen plus oxygen from water. I did not spend much time on the sites mentioned, I just wanted to taste the delusion. One method of getting hydrogen from water mentions the use of a metal placed in the electrolyte solution and producing hydrogen. In this case, the unoxidized metal has such a high chemical energy potential that it breaks the water molecules into H and OH ions so you end up with hydrogen and a hydroxide. Once again, it takes a lot of energy produce the pure and reactive metal. In conclusion, if it sounds to good to be true, it likely is untrue. There is no secret font of chemical energy locked up in water. Notice I said chemical energy but I highly doubt that these guys have discovered nuclear fusion in a pickle jar.

This article is very funny. Here's a great quote (emphasis is mine):

Hydrogen: This fuel is complete in itself. It does not need oxygen from the atmosphere to burn, which is an improvement over fossil fuels in saving the oxygen in our air supply. In fact, when hydrogen burns perfectly, nothing at all comes out of the tail pipe. If salt and metal alloy are used to create hydrogen, then there will be residues of that in the exhaust, but hydrogen fuel does not contribute oxygen to the atmosphere.

I love it. Hydrogren doesn't need oxygen to burn, and it creates 0 emissions.

What kind of a world does the reporter live in?
