The Future for the SRT8
|
The new supercharger that MOPAR is offering for the 6.1 is very exciting but there are several more technologies in the pipeline that can make our cars more interesting.
The first piece of tech is the VVT that is currently employed in the 8.4 V10 and is scheduled for the the 5.7 Hemi in '09 (i think). This technology improves fuel economy while delivering more HP and torque.
The second piece of tech is the Dual Clutch Transmission. The 79REM is a seven speed "clutch-less manual" designed for heavy truck application. This transmission promises to accelerate faster and offer higher fuel economy. Though designed for a truck I think this can be converted for the SRT8s.
The third piece of tech is the GKN Visco-Lok limited slip differential. (SRT8s should have come equipped with LSD.)
Last but not least is an emissionized 392 Hemi. Anybody want a naturally aspirated 500 hp V8?
I know I'm doing a lot of speculating, but I think the above listed technology in refreshed 300, Chargers and Jeep GCs, (I'll miss the Magnum), would kick butt. Feel free to speculate and correct.
