To "D" or not to "D"

All,
Here my story (Yes, Sad but True). I have an order placed with a NON 5 Star Chrysler Dealer. Its been in BX status since 3/5/05. After being schooled by you all on this forum, I have started looking around. My ongoing thanks to Steve88 and RT4 - they have done more for my heart then blood pressure meds ever could.

My question now is, I have found a vehicle in "D" status with a five star dealer. Do I drop my BX with NON-5Star like a bad habit (assuming I can get MSRP)? Or should I hold out for a "D1" before jumping ship?

Thanks for the Support,
EB

D always goes to D1.....BX doesn't.
Get the one in D.... once you're driving it, THEN tell the other dealer you're not interested any more.

Stopped at the dealership this morning. They want $5000 over. I advised them I will pay MSRP and nothing more, left my card and walked out. My search continues.

IMO, I would forget the car in BX. It don't think it would be diffcult to find a dealer to get into BX status. I would jump on the D car since it's definitely dealer allocated and scheduled to be built.

Cars that exist are more expensive than those that don't.

You may consider finding a larger, 5-star dealership and waiting patiently there, too. Again, I would never cancel an order on an SRT8 until I was driving an SRT8.

It depends. If you KNOW the dealer will honor the ordered price (MSRP) once it comes in you might want to stay put. If you think the dealer in D will mark the price up. Stay put with your order.

5000 over.. man thats is outrageous.

Keep searching. And I bet a few weeks down the road that dealer will call you with either MSRP or 1-2k over sticker.

You will find one. I am sure there are decent dealers in the US. Just be patient.

I agree with you. Why cancel an order if you're not already in an SRT? I have two on order right now - I will only accept one. About six or seven weeks ago, the 'big' dealer told me he'd get allocation for 4 cars. "You'll be # 2," he told me. When I called about my status a few weeks ago, the salesman that actually places the orders told me, "You're still in BX, but don't worry, you're # 3. You'll get your car." When I asked what happened to # 2 he said, "Oh, the sales manager's car is ahead of yours." I called a friend who owns a smaller dealership (I would have called him first but I was convinced the big dealer would be more likely to get a unit).. He called his rep before agreeing to take my order. He was assured he would definitely get my car built ahead of the other dealer's #2 and #3 car, and possibly ahead of the other #1 car. So, what's better, #3 at a big dealer or #1 at a smaller dealer?

Guess what? It doesn't matter anyway. There's apparently still no allocation for the zone I'm in!!!

Take #2, multiply it by #3 to get the standard deviation for #1 and you'll get my answer.
