Adding an option

Just a quick question. I have a VIN already for my SRT8 but it has not been built yet. When I tried to add on an option I was told I could not and that it was to late. I though that up to the time of build you could add an option. Can anyone help me with this?

I may get this wrong, but my understanding was that you can make changed up until D1 status. Once you hit D1, you cannot make any other changes.

I think there is a period where you're early enough in "D" status that people have been able to make some changes. However, the closer it gets to "D1" the less likely it is that any change can be made. Threads throughout the last four months have shown some successes and some failures at making changes once in "D" status. Hopefully, if you can't get any changes made, its because your car is too close to being built in the pipeline.

This is not correct. I made changes with no problem. You need to have the dealer rep contact their counterpart in Brampton to have the order changed. It isn't difficult for them. Don't take no for an answer, keep pushing.

Johnny - you may be right, at least sometimes a car in D status can be changed, but haven't you been trapped in D status for over two months already? That seems to suggest your car wasn't really as far through the process as you were led to believe back when you made the changes.

I agree. I've been in "D" status now for almost 2-months. I don't think that SRT8 "D" status, is the same as normal DCX "D" status. SRT8 "D" status only means that you've been allocated a car. It may take us 9-months to build the thing, but its yours eventually.

I had my car put on hold until the kicker was ready, so that may have effected it. Also keep in mind my dealer had many 05's allocated so the 06's were probably slower. My order was an 05 that was switched over to an 06, that is why i have been in D so long. It should be built by June 1 per the plant.
