Unfair comparison?!!

Even though,it seems like an unfair comparison between the 2 cars, with price difference and all, I think we held up pretty well ,considering!!!It seems like everyone is talking about us!! Challenge-BMW M5 V-10 VS 300C SRT-8,they been talking about us on a different forum, here's the link: http://forums.autoweek.com/thread.js...threadID=15539

The M5 has been a beast for a long time. I hadn't heard really anything about the new version of it with the V-10, the 400 HP V8 version that they have had for some 5 years has been very impressive.

If the v-10 were available now, it would have been my car. The srt8 for a year or two, then the M5..thats the plan. Two beauties!

I like how over there they are talking about how the srt-8 is just like an old american muscle car and can't brake and handle. Um, granted data for the M5 isn't available yet, but the srt-8 outbrakes (by 8ft from 60 and 23ft from 100) and outhandles (by 1.3mph in the slalom, skidpad tests for the srt-8 underrate it because traction control doesn't go all the way off, but even there it beats it too) a sports packaged 545i.

Blowin' smoke

Just a bunch of cyberspace wannabes yakkin' about "what ifs".

Go here to see what a 300c SRT-8, with minimal track prep can do against other hot cars, in the real world:

The fact that they're even comparing is a compliment if you ask me! BMW's flagship 4 door sport sedan at twice the price!

Of course it will outperform, but man, I feel priviledged to have a car I will own be compared (though unfairly) to such a superb automobile.

But it is funny listening to the "uniformed" (just like on every forum) about things like "big motor in anything mentality" ummm, hello the SRT-8 IS a big car it only makes sense, but a V10 should'nt be considered "big" (even though it is smaller ci wise, it's still BIG)

The other one about making fun of Chrysler chassis. Hey guys, it's an E-class Mercedes chassis. LOL.

It is an unfair comparison

The most logical (and fair) BMW to compare to the SRT8 is the 545i, MSRP $50,000+

Which is what Road & Track Speed Magazine did, guess which one won?

To bring them to a level dollar playing field let Chrysler throw an extra $40-60,000 retail at the already hot SRT8 and the 2006 M5 future owners will really cry.

I personally chose between the 545i and the SRT-8.

I test drove the auto, the 6-speed and the SMG version of the 545i.
I own a 540i 6-speed already.

I challenge anyone to drive both and pick the BMW. The only reason to pick it is if you want a smaller car, and want to spend extra for the BMW logo.
Sure, you get some extra features, but optioned-out, it was going to cost $65,000.
