A little late night humor.

Stopped by my local 5 star dealer today asking about the 300c srt-8. The salesman said "Do you mean the Neon?"

Probably thought (hoped) you wanted to see the SRT-4s they have in stock.
SRT-8s are a rarer breed of course.

Right, itz just the law of supply & demand.
Only, in this case, the demand for comfortable, RWD V8-powered American sedans is likely to prove alot (alot) higher than expected.
We've been waiting a long time for a decent car.

Isn't it amazing that you have to explain to the dealer the product line THEY sell. LOL.

I swear, auto sales is the only sales profession you can be in without knowing your products more than your customers....and still make money.

One salesmas told me the 6.1 hemi V8 is the engine they used in the first gen Vipers.

Just because you give so much in taxes doesn't mean you're not making it for someone

Let me disclaim, I have 3 friends who currently or have sold cars. They were enthusiasts and even studied the ins and outs of the cheap cars like cavaliers and such. They knew their stuff so not ALL salesmen are like this.

I don't know if you are in that category or not, but even THEY thought it was amusing just how little their coworkers knew.

My point was that you can actually get away with it. I've had 2 sales jobs before and yes, you can BS your way into some sales but you NEED to know the product....In my experience.

When I bought my truck the salesmen said it had a donut tire.....You can see the full size spare hanging underneath the bumper. Is this a small detail? Yes, but still, come on. It's not hard to study 5-10 different product's specs per year to make a more informed purchase for your customers.

I think knowing the product is a must. Customers are more informed these days thanks to the internet and they sometimes will know more then you about the car (which shouldn't happen) so you can't BS all of them, they will see right through you.
