I am in line to get the new 09 CTSV. My buddy just received his and it is a very nice machine and light years ahead of the old CTSV. I did not drive it but checked it out and it was very nice on the inside. He has a new Z06 and a CL600 Mercedes and he likes the new Caddy better in all respects. I like my srt8 so much however that I am going to keep it also and let the wife drive it.

CTS-V vs SRT-8

I had a new CTS-V on order. The dealership just received one a couple weeks ago (it was red and I wanted black w/ Recaro's.) The black one is supposed to come in any day..... The V is one wicked machine, very well balanced and the power is quite impressive!!!

Only problem the sticker was $69k and they weren't coming off the price, yet. In this economy I started looking for alternatives and the SRT8 came back on the radar. I drove one two weeks ago and was hooked!

Heck, low 20's to have a car that's 80% of the new V? Make my SRT black and I'll wait a year or two for the V prices to come down.

So, right now I'm on the serious hunt for a SRT if you have one available.......

Even though I am sticking with the V and keeping my SRT8 I definitely understand your point. SRT8 is still a much better bang for the buck. I am fortunate enough to have the resources to do both. The new V is really a different tier of machine though with the engine, new suspension, interior quality, etc. I am not happy about the $68K+ either but my alternative is stepping up to the next level of $100K-$200K for the level of performance and quality and really don't want to do that right now. Good luck on your SRT hunt.

Thats what im saying. I basically STOLE my 06 SRT8 loaded to the max with every option available and just 14,500 miles. I didnt want the gen1 cts-v and thats all i could get in the same price range. Ill wait until the new V's come down in price in just a couple years and get one then. Right now, the SRT8 was by far the best bang for the buck and im loving it!!

Good luck on the car hunt also! These cars are wicked and you will love it!!

The new CTS=V outperforms the SRT8 in every way + the interior is much nicer and more comfortable.

The SRT8's main advantage is SIZE.

Despite the fact 300C's are 197 inches long, they still manage to have more front space than longer cars like the MKS, the Taurus and even my S550.

for different people, size isn't an issue, but for me, its the first thing I worry about when I look for a new car. I'm 6'7 and the only reason I have a 300 at all is cause I needed a second big car.

I believe it probably does stock to stock but for the price... i could buy an SRT8, benefit from the size that the CTS doesnt have and spend some money on nice mods to make it outperform the new CTS-V for still much less money in the long run...
