Dont get me wrong, CTSv is a very nice machine of performance, but overall save your money & get a superchargered SRT & buy a used Vette or Jeep SRT8 or anything for 35k for that matter.

Hey T_towner, If you are still looking to buy SRT8, my buddy is selling his 07 Black fully loaded, Magnaflow full cat back exhaust & Mopar CAI, Great shape 18k miles. Here in Salt Lake City, where we get alot of snow fall 4-5 months of the year, its not practical. He wants to get Jeep SRT, and I am toying with the idea my self, Just love my 300c SRT8 to much, but dont get to drive it too much during winther with all the snow. So if any Jeep SRT8 guys are looking to Sell or Trade, Let me know.
Exactly! That what im sayin!

And obviously we all have different taste. I like the CTS-V Coupe but i would personally never put lambo doors on anything i own. I think it looks tacky and ghetto but everyone has their own opinion...

It currently holds the stock 4 door sedan lap record at the Nurburgring. I love my SRT-8 and it does offer a lot of value, but I test drove the new CTS-V and it is a different level of car, as it should be for the money.

$70,000? They can say that now, but mark my words, the CTS-V won't be that much. It'll definitely be less than $60,000 base.
Fully loaded, the price may approach $65,000.

A loaded Escalade EXT still costs $70,500.

If I could get that CTS-V coupe RIGHT NOW...I'd actually be willing to pay $70,000 though (plus $2000 for the lambo doors) . I want that car THAT MUCH. All I gotta do is be able to fit in it ! I'm willing to pay for an aftermarket company to rebolt the seats inches back so I can fit in there.

I would rather have my SRT8 than the CTS-V (at least the previous generation one). When I was looking for a car, I actually test drove a CTS-V, a used 2006 SRT8, a used 2005 Mercedes E55 AMG, and finally a 2008 300C SRT8. The CTS-V was my least favorite of the bunch even though the handling was better than I expected. The E55 AMG was almost brutal in its power delivery and flooring the throttle was a rush (actually a bit scary). The handling felt on par with the SRT8 though. I liked the interior of the E55 the best. The 2008 SRT8 and 2006 SRT8 felt the same, but I liked the interior of the 2008 model better, but not as much as I liked the interior in the E55. The myGIG infotainment system was a very cool upgrade in the 2008 SRT8 too.

There were several reasons why I went with the 2008 300C SRT8 over the others. I did not like the shifter or clutch feel on the CTS-V, and it simply did not feel as fast as the SRT8 or the E55 (of course). There was really bad axle hop on the CTS-V and it was a very similar problem to what I experienced in a manual equipped Infiniti G35 sedan (loaner for my previous car when it was in the shop). Ultimately, I decided I didn't want a manual, and neither did my wife. The E55 AMG had an annoying dash rattle, and I had concerns about getting a used one with little warranty left. I liked the throttle response and acceleration of the E55 better than the SRT8, but handling was a toss up in my opinion. The 2006 SRT8 was less expensive than the 2008 model (of course), but I really wanted the 2008 interior and myGIG system. I also liked the added EVIC performance features in the 2008 model, and my wife and I especially liked the Inferno Red color. These things made it worth paying extra for the 2008 in the color that I wanted with all of the features that I wanted.

Interior quality means alot to me cause I care what the women I entertain think about the cars I drive so I'd have gone with the E55 EVEN THOUGH - I hate that bubble headlamp design. The new E-class has fixed that for 2010 though.

The Chrysler 300 has astonished me by how cheap the designers have gone for interior quality. For example, on my car, I had to go out and buy the plastic-chrome trim for my bumper front and rear. WHY? It only cost $20 for the whole pack. Why didn't Chrysler give us this?

The interior is nothing but polyeurethane and plastic. WHY?
Back in 2004 it wasn't so bad or noticeable because of the nice walnut highlights but now, its painfully obvious that the only interior upgrades for 08' are minor plastic-chrome trim and LED's in the cup holders/door sills + that silly line of wood on the passenger side.

When I saw a brand new 08 Heritage model, they didn't even have the plastic-chrome inserts around the handles. In my car, I added those plasti-wood ones (otherwise it looks like cheap plastic grooves) and I added the plastic chrome handle line.
What bothers me is that some 08's come with it, some don't - and if you ask the dealer, they want to charge $100 for it. MADNESS.

CHRYSLER DESERVES TO GO BANKRUPT IF THEY CAN'T GET THIS RIGHT

the interior of the 300C SRT8 is definitely its achilles heel, but look, you can't have EVERTHING a $90k car has for $40k. we get comparable performance and comparable exterior styling, but they scrimped on the interior. if you want a nicer interior for less money than a Mercedes, you can get an acura or infiniti, but you won't get the performance or (arguably) a striking exterior.

Yeah but that's ridiculous.
They didn't even try.

the 300's LEATHER is FINE.
the seat bolsters are FINE
The nav radio was fine (now cars use integrated dash radios)

Why the FK is it that ALL the 300's didn't have the cup holder slide cover?
Why didn't ALL the 300's have steering wheel controls?
Why didn't ALL the 300's have the walnut door handles - or aluminum?
Why didn't ALL the 300's have electrochromatic rear view mirrors?

We aren't talking about MAJOR assemblies like Dual Zone HVAC or Tire Pressure Monitors... we are talking about relatively inexpensive trim and parts that would have been cheaper if manufacturerd across platforms rather than relegated to solo trims.

In fact, Chrysler should have made this car modular. If you want the Radio without nav, or with it, the slot and wiring harness should be the same.
If you want the steering wheel with controls, you should be able to buy it without worrying about the wiring harness not accepting it. This stuff should be plug and play.

Automotive design 1A teaches that you give the car an appearance of a lower and wider stance by taking the design elements horizontal - taking them vertical just "lifts" the profile of the car making it look like the front end of 4WD (SUV/RV to you seppos).

And what the hell happened to American cars looking like American cars???? All the latest offerings from Detroit are starting to look like the Japanese won WWII. The latest Corvette looks like the bastard son of the Honda NSX. Part of the appeal of the 300C is that it looks like a yank tank.

Then again, I suppose the era of the fossil fuelled land barge is over and the age of the electro-go-kart is upon us.....

well, vertical tail lights is an iconic cadillac tradition. it's basically all that remains of the glorious tail fins they used to sculpt onto the back of them in the good old days. the vertical tail lights went away when the seville became the STS, but they were always there on the eldorados and devilles (later called ETCs and DTSs).

you're right about the corvette. it's a first-class machine, but the styling just lacks any character, and let's be honest, character ought to be a big part of the appeal for that class of car.

the CTS-V looks wayyy better than the previous design, and i really like it, but the CTS has never really looked like a true cadillac to me. the eldorado, the allante, and even the XLR, those are the styles i associate with cadillac, beyond of course the tailfinned land yachts of the distant past.

I agree with this post.

As for the interior of the 300C talk above, my interior (although its the SRT) came with everything i could ever want factory. If i would have got the 300C with the 5.7L Hemi instead, i wouldnt have wanted them to put woodgrain in all the cars. Again, thats a personal opinion but i personally hate the cheap woodgrain crap they put in cars these days with the exception of the new escalades. For the first time, i actually liked the woodgrain pattern when i sat in one of those...

plastic covered with a fake wood sticker is cheesy, but i believe cadillacs use actual wood. (could be wrong nowadays)
