SRT8 300C or a Cadillac CTS-V??? (Moved)

Hey guys,
I figured id post this up to get some opinions. When i bought my 06 SRT8 300C, i was deciding between it and an 05 CTS-V with the 5.7L LS6 and 6-speed trans. Both had Navi, moonroof, etc. The V comes with 395HP compared to the SRT8 coming with 425HP but i believe the weight on the SRT is a little more so its probably a wash. I really liked the V when i drove it but to me, it didnt feel anywhere near as luxurious as the 300. The interior wasnt as plush and to me, it just didnt seem as classy. The 300 was so comfortable! Its like sitting on a sofa compared to the smaller interior of the CTS-V.

I just wanted to see ya'lls opinions on this. Do you guys like the SRT or the CTS-V's better??

Im already expecting a biased answer due to this being a chrysler forum but be honest. Knowing what you know now after buying the SRT, would you change your mind? I dont think i would!

BTW, my final deciding factor when i made my decision was that cadillac has the new body CTS's out now that look way way better than the 04/05 body style. The new V's are sick! Interior are way nicer and much more classy and they come with more horsepower now too. I figured unless i get the brand new V, i would never be satisfied with the 05 body style.

kinda...

I liked the old gen CTS-V for it's raw fun. It was a great road course car.

But it would have never lasted under my foot. They have lots of driveline issues and are really poorly built.

The new one is bad ass mechanically, a real performer. But once again I would question its ability to survive the beating my SRT8 has cheerfully accepted without a hiccup.

I also think the new ones are butt ugly!

I dunno...that newer one is growing on me. When I see one now I think it's a good-looking car. WAY better than the first generation.

I also think the SRT8 has proven to be better than the last-gen CTS-V. You'd have to be able to get that 10th tenth out of it to beat a SRT8 in a race, and then how long would it last treating it like that???

This big-cat 300 looks great, runs like hell and can really take a beating

Hey 3Hundy, I was debating between SRT8 & CTSv as well. I think most people do until they actually test drive both of them. However the new 09 CTSv would be a different story. Dont get me wrong I love my SRT8 and wouldnt think bout trading it. There has been a few on the other forums that have made teh switch. As far as the 04-06 5.7, Everyone knows there is no replacement for displacement and besides at $68k for the new CTSv (6.2 supercharger) I could add a twin screw supercharger and still be way under the cost of new Cadilliac.

I love the new CTS-V. That motor is highly detuned... you can bet your ass with very little money you will be running 650-700+ hp quite easily.
I love the 300c srt8 but that new cts-v is just plain sick... awesome power, suspension, interior is beautiful.

Probably going to pick one up used in a year or two.

If the new CTS-V was as affordable as a 300c I would have one right now. 300c SRT8 has tons of power but the tests for the 09 CTS-V show it killing almost everything out there. Im not really a straight line guy, more of a road course guy so I might be bias.

These are my feelings exactly! I was just looking at what i was getting for what i was spending when i decided. I just wanted to see what others thought of my decision. The SRT was by far the nicer car compared to the 05 CTS-V but way less than buying the brand new CTS-V that i really wanted. I love everything about the SRT! Like said above, for way less than i would spend on a brand new CTS-V, i could twin-screw the SRT and have a buck nasty ride for still a lot less in the end. Im also glad to hear these cars can take a beating. Im not saying i rag on my car but i like to romp it every once in awhile like everyone else to enjoy the power i bought. I also know people with CTS-V's that have had problems with them so you guys are completely right. Looks like overall, i def made the right choice!!

Thanks for the replies guys!!
