For any doubters 22.9 to 23.1 MPG

Drove the 06 SRT 8 back from Boston to DC yesterday 488 miles and got between 22.9 first tank and 23.1 MPG on the second tank. I took pictures because someone last week asked for them and will post them tomorrow when I unload them from the digital camera.

The car is stock other than a 180 thermostat.
I did not use the cruise and averaged about 70- 72mph. The car does better in the low 70's than it does in the 60's. I was running Sunoco 93.

So what am I doing wrong? Not that I mind (I knew that the gas mileage could be poor on a performance car), but my average is only 13.5 mpg, and I've been taking it easy, both highway and city....can you give me an idea what you are doing different?....

Do you reset your computer when you get onto the highway?

No...I reset last about two days ago, which would include city and highway....I've only had the car a week, so I really cannot be accurate yet....guess I was a little hopeful I'd of seen 17 to 18 mgp's by now.....but I will try just highway and see what happens...thanks!! .....

Also, does the mileage improve after break-in?...Again, I didn't buy this car for the gas savings....but I'm just curious...(BTW, this car is so much fun!!!!! It zips around so fast, and looks so bad!!..Maybe that's why the gas mileage is a little on the low side....perhaps I've been driving it faster than I thought?!! )

Ya, my combined avg. is usually around 15mpg. (C, not SRT). When I reset on the highway only it's over 25.

So how much city versus highway would you do? At an average of 15 (say 50% highway/50% city) does that mean you average 5mpg in the city?!!! (just kidding)...

So if a C averages 15, then the 8 would average, what, 13? Sounds right, I guess....
