Time for me to chime in!

Hello my name is Russ, and I'm a SRT-A-HOLIC. I've been reading here for a couple of months and I really appreciate all the great input from so many people. So here's my tale, I started negotiating with a dealer here in Pa. in November of last year-sent him a deposit in January. I was told to expect my car in March or April, so this waiting game has been killin' me. It is comforting to know there are many others out there in the same position, and hearing many of you saying be patient It's well worth the wait has helped. The dealer has given me nothing to nibble on, after multiple requests for von-vin-status....all I ever got was there's no new info, and we'll call you when there is. After hearing all of this msrp+5k, 10k, 15k business, I questioned wether the dealer was even going to offer our verbal agreement on price. Well, I finally got a call today, they said we're in delivery status and I need to get my finances in order, I've read about varying transit times so I don't really know what to expect, But I'm ecstatic, It's almost my turn! I signed my wife and myself up for the ''experience'' I'm getting the feeling It's going to be hard for me to keep her out of it, so I might as well get her to learn to handle the beast. I've been a Chevy guy since my teens and I kinda feel like I'm cheating. At least I'm still buying American. Sorry for ramblin' just had to share a little bit of sunshine. Cant wait to start tweaking, springs-tint-grill-volant for starters. See you guys and gals around.

Just curious if you have been tracking your VIN number with the factory workers at bramptonassembly.com? Also, if you can find out what railroad company is transporting your car, I have heard you can track the status along the railroad. Please let us know how many days it takes to ship

RustyG - that is AWESOME!!!

not much longer...
so remind me again why the transport?
I forget the dealer location in relation to you...
I think that is admirable signing her up as well...
you never know if she has to drive you to the hospital or some other emergency situation...
and you need her to be able to drive...
kidding, just kidding...
CONGRATS!
and let us know what happens over the next couple of days...
Sincerely,

Waiting too

RustyG

I have a deposit down since mid-April and really am not in much of a hurry to replace my current car, but would like to at least test drive an SRT8. My theory was to secure a test drive by placing a refundable deposit. The dealer I am working with has (3) coming in and I have first rights of refusal on all three. Two will be black and one silver.

Today a client let me drive his 2006 Lexus GS with all the luxury items. The car is AWD, rear video camera for backing that televises in color on the Nav screen. Bluetooth phone, push button keyless starting, A/C seat cooling system, rear window shade that retracks went you put the car into reverse.
And a super NAV system with voice, and touch screen. It was black on black with wood interior trim and a super 5.1 surround sound audio system all for
$50K. I currently drive a 5 series sport and truly love the way my car handles, stops, and has held its value. But its hard to over look the SRT8 with the performance numbers published in several auto magazines ( I have them all). I'll just have to wait and test drive one to see. Will the SRT8
hold its value like a BMW or Lexus ? time will tell. (boy I can't wait for the flames from fellow board members regarding that last statement) But we would all be kidding ourselves if we didn't think ahead to the time we trade in our 2006 SRT8's for the next best auto on the market in 2010.

You're in PA and I am in Ohio, what are your plans for winter driving?

I'm going to park it for the winter, I just moved here from So. Cal. and the thought of rust on all my vehicles scares the sh*t out of me.

Hi Rusty- that is some great news. Don’t worry about “cheating”-- that will be a distant memory once you take delivery and start driving this magnificent beast. I used to only drive Fords (yes, please forgive me my fellow Mopar brothers and sisters) but at last I’ve seen the light of redemption & horsepower!! You will embrace this car like no other. Keep us posted on your “due date.” We love to hear delivery stories and see pictures- we’re not afraid of the gore- so they can be as dirty and nasty as necessary.

My 8 is going to be ready for winter...bring it on!! I'm just have to look for better tires....It's not going to be the pampered beast...She's gonna work for me, baby!! but that's just my 2 cents...I think Chrysler made this car to be used, not babied...(but I can see why you want to do so...she is a wonderful car!!)...

BTW, I really floored it today in very slippery wet road conditions (it's been raining a lot in Calgary this past week)...the F1's were surprisingly good...no sway or slippage that I could notice....perhaps this beast will be good enough to drive in winter...and about the rust, I hear 'ya!! But I'm going to wash her good all season long....I've owned cars 15 years from new, and drove them in the baddest of winters and salted streets, and never once had problems with rust, as long as you take good care of them....

P.S. - Hope you get your car soon...it is definately worth the wait!!..

Thanks Daryl, It's good to know that with proper care we don't have to offer our cars as a sacrifice to the rust gods.
