SRT-8 Aftermarket Exhaust

All righty then . . . what, if any thing, are you planning to do with your exhaust system . . . borla, flowmaster, magnaflow, zoomers, remove cats, remove resonators, etc. :stickp4:

Talk amongst yourselves . . . .

I think I'll just let my SRT-8 get broken in first then see what has been tested with good results! I like Borla Systems. Only time will tell.

I am having a custom x pipe made (3") and a set of Manaflow Mufflers being installed (also 3") all stainless, to similar tips that are already there .....

I'll be keeping the cats, but gone will be the resonator and the huge mufflers .....

Ron Arlasky, the designer and manufacturer of the highly-touted Zoomers Exhaust system has looked at the SRT-8 exhaust as has some ideas I believe. Someone in Ca. with an SRT-8 needs to pay him a visit.

"Hi Stephen, Our present system will fit on the SRT8, I did look at one at a local dealer and everything is the same except they went to 2.5" tail pipes stock on the SRT8 vs. 2.25" on the 5.7L. We use 2.25" on our system and feel that our muffler flows so well and with the extraction power of our tips, 2.25" is more than enough size, especially since it's all mandrel bent. We could build a system especially for the SRT8 with 2.5" tail pipes but I don't think it will make much of a difference in performance per say as much as it will change the sound. That is why Chrysler changed the stock configuration to 2.5" to get a throatier sound and open it up a little. Remember OEM are using the same restrictive suitcase muffler and rear resonators as the 5.7L.. Are you a local So Cal resident? Either way you'd be the first. Give me a call and we can discuss further. Thanks,"

I told him I would see if I could locate someone with an SRT-8 local to him and send them his way.

Anybody try unbolting the exhaust to see if it is even a restriction? MAybe just removing the cats? Seems like a waste to go buy cold ait kits , exhausts, headers etc if they don't do much.

I am actually trying to get a plan together to take my MSRT-8 to Magnaflow very soon. I should know if it can be done by the end of today and maybe be on the road next weekend. Not sure, but I do like the sound of the Magnaflows and have one of the SS mufflers on our Dodge Hemi Ram. It has a great sound.

please let me know how this turns out since I too am leaning heavily in the magnaflow direction. Seems like a no-brainer with the cost-performance-sound all factored in.

I didn't hear back from btlfed1500 last night on some hotels local to the shop. Hopefully we can get those details ironed out on Monday and I really want to drive it out there for an install 1 week from tomorrow.
