So who's arguing about gas mileage?

You all will appreciate this, here's what happened.

My wonderful and supportive wife comes home with a few bags under her arm. I am told to come to the bedroom and see what she bought. Well she does not have to ask me twice - I'm there.

She pulls out new sheets which happen to be 600 thread count - as if i know what that means. Well to tell you the truth, I'm a little disappointed that it is sheets but she tells me they are very comfy. Well that's good.

Then i look at the tag, they cost like 150 bucks but are half price (regular 300). I ask "who would pay this much for sheets?" Well she looks at me and replies, "We will be sleeping on these things every night for a long time. How fast do you burn through 150 bucks in gas with your car?"

What was i going to say. I just defended a guy on one of the threads who wants an award for 3 miles per gallon.

She gets to keep her sheets. I am just wondering what else this car is going to cost me. Who can argue with that logic? I don't want to slow down and try to get 20MPG...

Jeff, enjoy the sheets . . . and the new dishware set; the great ornamental area rug, the ceramic nail job, the designer jogging shoes, etc., etc.

Now that I'm driving and modding my new baby, wifey gets to go buy just about whatever she wants, all in the name of marital bliss.

The gas is the cheapest part of owning this car.

The Mrs. did a substantial upgrade on her wedding ring last X-mas (after 10+ years with me and two kids, she deserved it!). That upgrade turned out to be the best thing should could have done for me and my acquisition of an SRT-8. When I informed her I was getting rid of the then 8-month-new 300C and replacing it with the SRT-8, she was in no position to object to the cost of that proposition.

Table set this purchase

Was pricey, but I table set this purchase with the Christmas purchase for the spouse of one of those yesterday, today, and tomorrow 3 diamond anniversary rings. When March came around, there was no resistance when I wanted to go for the "full Monty" on the car purchase (SRT-8 vs 300c) ...what was she gonna say, the ring on her finger was causing the sales guy to blink in the reflected light and she'd been basking in the afterglow of attention she'd been receiving on the ring for ~ 3 months. I almost felt Borgish...."resistance was futile"

Odd, they try to appear so complicated, yet they'll do anything for a rock. 600 thread count? Damn, that must be nice. Now you just need to S/C your SRT8. You can argue that you get 1HP for every 1 thread on her sheets.

Hmmm....this bodes well for me ~does the Montgomery Burns fingertip rubbing thing~

My girlfriend is not at all pleased (although she understands she has no say as long as we're not married) about me buying an SRT8...thinks I should be something "sensible" like a corolla, and put the rest away "for the future"...I keep trying to tell her that getting something with 4 doors instead of 2 is sensible...she's not buying it. Well, maybe the engagement ring I'm springing on her will help....

Well, truth be told, it's not so much my job to blow things up (though it is a nice fringe benefit), it's my job to bring the boys home alive, and that is sensible . Since I'm responsible for the security of a base that houses 5000 of them, I don't get out much. As far as the girl, well, I was commited to a career in the Army before I met her, maybe she's the one not being sensible, hanging about with a bullet sponge like me...
